Actress Melanie Scrofano is back on SYFY! After her role in “Wynonna Earp,” she will take the lead in a new zombie series, titled “Revival.” Production for this show has started in New Brunswick, Canada, as announced today. Besides Scrofano, the main cast also includes Romy Weltman from “Murdoch Mysteries,” David James Elliott known for his work on “Mad Men,” and Andy McQueen from “Mrs. Davis.
Based on the comic book series “Revival” by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton, this story revolves around a tranquil Wisconsin town that plunges into turmoil as deceased individuals miraculously return, seemingly undisturbed by their previous stint as earthworm nourishment.
The characters of SYFY’s Revival, explained
- Melanie Scrofano has been cast as Dana Cypress, a single mother and cop constantly trying to prove herself to the stubborn local sheriff, who also happens to be her father. Just when she’s about to leave the town for good, however, the events of Revival Day propel Dana into her most important investigation yet.
- Romy Weltman will step into the shoes of Dana’s younger sister, Martha “Em” Cypress. Due to a recurring illness, she’s led a sheltered life up until now, though her struggle to find a place in the world doesn’t get any easier with walking corpses thrown into the mix.
- James Elliott plays family patriarch Sheriff Wayne Wausau Sheriff, a veteran lawman determined to keep his town and loved ones safe in the wake of Revival Day.
- Andy McQueen will portray Ibrahim Ramin, a CDC scientist dispatched to study the bizarre phenomenon.

What is Revival about?
The TV series is set in rural Wisconsin and follows an unusual event where people unexpectedly rise from their graves. Contrary to typical imagery of moaning zombies seeking brains, the risen corpses here behave exactly as they did when alive.
When Dana Cypress, a local officer and single mother, finds herself suddenly entangled in a grisly murder case that involves her directly, she must navigate through the turmoil as her small town grapples with fear and uncertainty. In this community where both living and dead inhabitants become possible suspects, she struggles to unravel the puzzle.
When will Revival premiere on SYFY?
SYFY has not revealed when Revival will premiere, given that filming has just started, it seems reasonable to expect the series to air some time between mid-2025 and late 2025.
Aaron B. Koontz (from “Scare Package”) and Luke Boyce (of “Revealer”) have created the original content for television and are serving as showrunners and executive producers.
