Plot:
Ankur Chaddha, played by Arjun Kapoor, runs a real estate business in his family. After a divorce from journalist Prabhleen Dhillon, portrayed by Bhumi Pednekar, he’s been navigating life smoothly. However, every night he experiences distressing dreams about Prabhleen, and this issue has become quite severe.
In Hrishikesh, Ankur encounters his old college crush, Antara Khanna (played by Rakul Preet), to his surprise. Both have moved on significantly since their college days and decide to explore a romantic connection. As their relationship blossoms, Ankur feels compelled to confess his recurring nightmares involving Prabhleen to Antara. Although sympathetic towards Ankur, Antara expresses doubt that their love can last for the long haul.
For the remainder of the film, Ankur works to convince Antara that they are not only meant for each other, but also that their love has much more growth ahead. In the meantime, Prabhleen re-enters Ankur’s life, causing quite a commotion – a typical twist in a Mudassar Aziz comedic movie.
Ever since the day Prabhleen vanished from my world, I’ve been yearning to understand – how and why did she reappear in Ankur’s life? The flame of curiosity within me burns bright. Will Ankur’s heart be captivated once more by Prabhleen’s charm, or will he choose to prioritize his life with Antara? Dive into the captivating tale of “Mere Husband Ki Biwi” to unravel this enigma.
What works for Mere Husband Ki Biwi:
The film “Mere Husband Ki Biwi” remains faithful to its genre and delivers on its promises, offering a generous helping of comedy, puzzlement, and intricate plotlines. Although the humor is generally entertaining, it’s the dramatic scenes and over-the-top moments that leave the most lasting impact, particularly during the climax. The audience can empathize with Ankur’s internal struggle due to his complicated relationships with the women he has loved.
The tunes are all lively, spanning from Ik Vaari to Sawariya Ji, and Gori Hai Kalaiyan which plays during the closing credits. The lead actors’ interactions flow effortlessly, and their comfort level is evident. The supporting cast, featuring Harsh Gujral, Tiku Talsania, Shakti Kapoor among others, maintains a light mood even during intense and complicated scenes. Last but not least, director Mudassar Aziz once again manages to create a chaotic yet heartfelt comic-drama.
What doesn’t work for Mere Husband Ki Biwi:
Initially, Mere Husband Ki Biwi seems a bit uneasy, but soon settles into its rhythm. Scenes featuring Prabhleen and Antara sometimes appear overly competitive. Additionally, some humor in certain situations might benefit from a touch of polishing.
In simpler terms, “Rest, My Husband’s Wife” is an unexpectedly delightful and entertaining romantic comedy, serving as a refreshing break from intense action films.
