A remarkable movie, jointly penned by Walliams and Kevin Cecil (known for Veep) and helmed by Jeffrey Walker (acclaimed in The Artful Dodger), has commenced its primary shooting at Queensland Studios in Brisbane, Australia. This opportunity was secured through Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy.

The narrative focuses on the Meeks, Mr. and Mrs. Meek, who are librarians and loving parents to their daughter Myrtle. They go to great lengths to ensure Myrtle’s happiness, but she’s never satisfied with what she has. When Myrtle requests a Fing, her parents feel compelled to find one for her, leading them on a journey through the deepest, darkest parts of the jungle. However, they soon discover that Fing is as much a destructive force as Myrtle herself. In the end, Myrtle must confront and defeat The Viscount, a villainous animal park owner who wants to capture this rare creature for his own collection.

The movie is jointly produced by King Bert Productions, based in the U.K., and Story Bridge Films, located in Queensland. Sky has played a role in its development and financing, with additional financial backing from STAN and AGC Studios. These latter two entities are responsible for global distribution of the film as well.

Transmission Films plans to debut the movie in cinemas across Australia and New Zealand. On the other hand, it will also premiere as an original production on Stan’s streaming platform. The executive producers for this project are Julia Stuart and Andrew Orr from Sky, together with Matt Lucas (Walliams) and Shana Levine.

Author Walliams, known for selling over 60 million copies of his books in 55 languages, published “Fing” in 2019. Waititi commented: “Upon reading the script, I immediately sensed David’s distinctive and peculiar humor leaping from the pages. There’s a dark humor and sharpness to “FING” that I’m eager to translate onto the screen, bringing the eccentric Viscount to life.
