Despite facing virtual rejection from Hollywood after his 2023 arrest for alleged domestic violence, Jonathan Majors is receiving unprecedented support – most notably from one of his previous co-stars, Michael B. Jordan. In a recent development, Jordan, who directed and starred alongside Majors in “Creed III”, has spoken up about the former Marvel Cinematic Universe star, expressing his eagerness to collaborate with Majors again.
In an interview with GQ Magazine, Jordan was asked about Majors and his response to the domestic assault case. He shared that it was difficult to watch the aftermath unfold in both media and public opinion. Firstly, he gave a positive update on Majors, expressing pride for his resilience and strength throughout the ordeal. He added that he’s happy for him being engaged, and commended his handling of the situation. Jordan also mentioned, “That’s my boy.” When asked if they would work together again in future projects, Jordan replied affirmatively, saying, “Yes, Yes.
Jordan mentioned Majors’ involvement, which speaks to the actor’s recent change in circumstances due to his upcoming wedding with actress Meagan Good. In spite of the negative comments online, Good has remained steadfast by his side during his legal struggles. The couple have openly praised each other and their relationship seems strong and beneficial for both parties from an outside perspective.
Jonathan Majors Was a Star on the Rise
Before his career reached incredible heights, Jonathan Majors was poised for stardom until a series of events occurred. He was chosen to take on the role of Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), facing off against the Avengers in future projects. The actor’s debut in this universe was seen in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and he also portrayed variations of the character in the Disney+ series Loki. In addition to his work within the MCU, Majors collaborated with Jordan on the film Creed III, which was released shortly after Quantumania. This movie went on to earn $276 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film in the Creed series to date.
A couple of weeks following the premiere of “Creed III”, the actor was detained in New York City in March 2023, under accusations of assaulting his girlfriend at the time, Grace Jabbari, inside a car. Jabbari stated that she attempted to grab Majors’ phone when she saw a text message from another woman, which led him to become aggressive and try to retrieve the phone forcefully. During this altercation, according to Jabbari, she sustained a blow to the head from Majors that caused bruising and discomfort.
In December 2023, Majors faced charges and was eventually convicted of two misdemeanor counts for harassment and assault. However, he was acquitted of intentional third-degree assault and aggravated second-degree harassment. After this conviction, Marvel decided to terminate their association with him, leading the company to adjust its plans that had Majors as the upcoming threat in the MCU. This development added to a growing list of potential opportunities lost for Majors, including acting roles and endorsements in the future.
There’s uncertainty about whether Major’s career will recover to its previous promising state, but there are indications that a turnaround might be on the way. His movie, “Magazine Dreams,” initially shelved by Searchlight Pictures after his arrest, is set to hit theaters on March 21 through Briarcliff Entertainment. At Sundance, this film received positive reviews and generated Oscar buzz. Whether he’ll regain acclaim is yet to be determined, but it seems like he’s making progress towards a potential resurgence in his career.
