Michael Biehn Returns to Studio Action Movies With Adam Wingard’s ‘Onslaught’ (Exclusive)

As a die-hard fan of 80s action movies, I can hardly contain my excitement! Michael Biehn, the man who played Kyle Reese and Corporal Hicks, is back on the big screen after decades of low-budget thrillers. His return to studio movies with Adam Wingard’s “Onslaught” feels like a reunion I never knew I needed.

Actor Michael Biehn, known for his roles in James Cameron’s groundbreaking ’80s films such as “The Terminator” and “Aliens”, is set to make a comeback on the big screen.

Over the past few decades, the actor has primarily worked on low-cost thrillers that are not part of the mainstream in Hollywood. However, they have recently joined the expanding cast of “Onslaught,” an action thriller that Adam Wingard is directing for A24.

Actor Reginald VelJohnson, best known for his roles in “Family Matters” and “Die Hard,” as well as comedian Eric Wareheim (of “Tim & Eric”), have both joined the cast of the upcoming film production. Filming begins this month.

In addition to the production, Lyrical Media and Ryder Picture Company are also involved in this project. The cast includes Adria Arjona, Dan Stevens (a favorite of Director Wingard), UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex “Poatan” Pereira, as well as Drew Starkey, known for his roles within the LGBTQ+ community.

Much of the information about Onslaught is stored in a secretive subterranean research lab, with insiders labeling it as a wild, terrifying blend of action, horror, and suspense.

Arjona plays the role of a mother residing in a trailer, who must rely on a specific skillset to safeguard her family following an encounter with a menace that managed to break free from a clandestine military facility.

Biehn will play a leader of an elite group of mercenaries who try to reign in the threat.

VelJohnson is playing a member of the mother’s trailer park community as is Wareheim.

Previously mentioned, Pereira serves as the main antagonist in the tale, going by the moniker “The Butcher”. Stevens’ character portrays a German scientist involved in the escaping experiments.

Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett will create the film “Onslaught” under the Ryder Picture Company flag together with A24. Additionally, Alexander Black for Lyrical Media will also be a producer. Wingard and manager Jeremy Platt will produce as well, doing so through their newly established company Breakaway Civilization, along with Barrett.

In collaboration, Lyrical and A24 will jointly finance the project. Responsibility for global distribution lies with A24, while Jon Rosenberg and Natalie Sellers from Lyrical will act as executive producers in the project, overseen by A24.

As a gamer, I can’t help but appreciate the versatility of Michael Biehn. Beyond his iconic roles as Kyle Reese from the future and Colonial Marine Corporal Hicks, he’s graced the silver screen in an array of movies – from James Cameron’s underwater thriller, The Abyss, to the dusty Western town of Tombstone, all the way to Michael Bay’s explosive blockbuster, The Rock.

In his latest significant role, he played a part in Robert Rodriguez’s film “Planet Terror,” which hit theaters in 2007. Despite primarily working on low-budget action movies, this actor has recently been seen on mainstream television, with guest appearances on shows like “The Mandalorian,” “The Walking Dead,” and “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” He is represented by both Realm Talent and Berwick & Kovacik.

Actor VelJohnson, starring in Disney’s recent “Turner & Hooch” series and lending his voice to a character on Amazon’s “Invincible”, is represented by both David Shapira & Associates and The Beddingfield Company.

Wareheim, who is associated with UTA, forms half of the comedy duo known as Tim & Eric, alongside Tim Heidecker. This team has created, produced, directed, and starred in various shows for Adult Swim. In addition, Wareheim has acted in and served as a producer on Aziz Ansari’s series titled Master of None.
