Michelle Pfeiffer to Lead ‘Yellowstone’ Sequel Series

As a devoted fan of the riveting world of Yellowstone, I can’t help but feel exhilarated at the prospect of Michelle Pfeiffer gracing our screens as part of the franchise’s next installment, titled Madison. With her illustrious career spanning decades and a diverse range of iconic roles, from Scarface to The First Lady, her presence in the Yellowstone universe promises to elevate the narrative to unprecedented heights.

Last year when it was officially confirmed that Yellowstone had concluded, Paramount Network began planning for two additional spinoffs. One of them was a prequel series, set in 1944, and the other was a contemporary continuation, following events beyond those seen in Yellowstone, initially titled as 2024.

Now, that sequel series is very much beginning to take shape.

The upcoming series, titled “Madison,” will feature Michelle Pfeiffer as its leading lady and mark the next installment in the “Yellowstone” universe. The award-winning actress will not only star but also serve as an executive producer for this new series, with Taylor Sheridan, the head of the franchise, overseeing production.

The story Madison is depicted as an emotionally resonant exploration of grief and interpersonal relationships, focusing on a family residing in the Madison River valley, which is located centrally in Montana, near New York City.

“Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount Global and President/CEO of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, praised Michelle Pfeiffer as a gifted actress who brings deep emotions, realness, and elegance to every character she plays. He stated that she is the ideal lead for the latest installment of the ‘Yellowstone’ universe, Madison, which is the creation of the talented Taylor Sheridan.”

Actress Pfeiffer, who has been nominated for three Oscars, won a Golden Globe, and received an Emmy nomination, is the most recent high-profile actor to team up with Sheridan within the ‘Yellowstone’ universe. This follows in the footsteps of Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, who lead the ‘1923’ prequel series to ‘Yellowstone,’ which is currently filming its second and final season.

Matthew McConaughey is rumored to be considering a role for a contemporary TV show, but no agreement has been made public yet. The show will delve further into the Dutton family saga, introducing new characters and settings, while also revisiting some familiar faces, leading to questions about who else might appear in this installment. Additionally, a prequel series set in 1944 has been announced, serving as a follow-up to both “1883” and “1923”.

On the other hand, the finale episodes of “Yellowstone”, which have been eagerly awaited for a while, will start airing from November 10 onwards.

The show “Yellowstone” has gained immense popularity and critical acclaim, being hailed as the top drama series on television. Last year, during the shooting of its fifth season, production faced a significant pause due to scheduling issues between the showrunner Sheridan and star Kevin Costner. This break ultimately extended for over a year, causing much anticipation among fans. More recently, Costner announced his departure from the series this summer, expressing that it was time to move on. As fans eagerly await the final season’s release, they will be intrigued to see how showrunner Sheridan rewrites the storyline featuring Costner’s character John Dutton.

Actress Elisabeth Moss, known for her memorable role in the iconic movie ‘Scarface’, has recently appeared as Betty Ford in the Showtime series ‘The First Lady’. She will next feature in ‘Oh. What. Fun!’ on Amazon. Throughout her illustrious career, she has been part of films such as ‘French Exit’, ‘Mother!’, ‘Hairspray’, ‘White Oleander’, ‘What Lies Beneath’, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, ‘The Deep End of the Ocean’, ‘One Fine Day’, ‘Up Close & Personal’, ‘Dangerous Minds’, ‘Wolf’, ‘Batman Returns’, ‘The Witches of Eastwick’, and many others.

She is repped by CAA, Entertainment360 and Hirsch, Wallerstein, Hayum, Matlof & Fishman and WKPR.

The series “Madison” is jointly produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions. Besides Sheridan and Pfeiffer, a group of executives including David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Christina Voros, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox are also involved in the production.
