Miley Cyrus Says She Knows What Upcoming 12-Track Experimental Album “Feels Like”

Miley Cyrus unveiled her “Something Beautiful” visual album to a full house at New York’s Beacon Theatre during the 2025 Tribeca Festival, showcasing it to the crowd.

However, following the release of her “Something Beautiful” audio recording only last week, and with her visual album due out in a week, Cyrus is already focusing on what lies ahead.

Last week at the Chateau Marmont, Cyrus hinted that “Something Beautiful” is just a “taste of things to come,” as she described her forthcoming album as “very experimental.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter prior to the debut of “Something Beautiful” visual album, Miley Cyrus offered some insights into the upcoming project. She hinted that it might contain approximately 12 songs.

And I believe I understand the emotions those songs convey, and that was also my initial intention with this album. It wasn’t primarily about the sound or appearance; it’s more about the feelings they evoke. So, in a way, I can say I have a sense of what those emotions are.” (Cyrus shared this sentiment with THR regarding the dozen songs.)

She hinted that her upcoming album might be less stressful, focusing more on the music itself.

As a fan, I’d say it feels like reaching an authentic moment where everything aligns perfectly with reality and truth for her. She expresses a desire to escape the self-imposed pressure she’s carried throughout most of her career. Instead, she yearns for an opportunity that isn’t dominated by power but purely about creating music.

At the Beacon Theatre, I found myself immersed in the captivating display of “Something Beautiful” on the large screen. Mostly, the crowd was buzzing with excitement (though a few seemed confused, thinking it was a concert – one particularly vocal fan even interrupted the Q&A to query about Miley Cyrus’s singing plans, apparently unaware that she had already serenaded us with an impromptu a capella rendition of “The Climb”). Throughout the screening, we frequently erupted into applause and at times, joined in song as the visual spectacle mirrored the 13 tracks on the album.

Cyrus has initially released Act 1, which comprises the introduction, main theme, “End of the World,” “More to Lose,” and “Easy Lover.” The visual album is heavily performance-based, resembling a collection of music videos. Each song has its unique visual interpretation, and the singer dons various eye-catching outfits, such as the Thierry Mugler costume she wears in “Prelude.

Primarily working within soundstages, Cyrus steps out for portions of “Easy Lover” and “Walk of Fame.” In the former, she’s spotted strolling around a studio lot, playfully winking at an observer, while in the latter, she filmed on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame late at night. During this shoot, she walked away with a severe knee infection as she had previously disclosed.

The visual album concludes with Miley Cyrus singing in the rain to “Reborn,” while “Give Me Love” plays during the credits. The song “Every Girl You’ve Ever Loved” includes a guest appearance by Naomi Campbell, who also appeared on “Something Beautiful.” This track shares similarities with George Michael’s “Freedom,” where Campbell also featured. In the abandoned warehouse, they both strut their stuff down the runway in sync and strike various poses as Campbell sings.

In a post-movie discussion led by Derek Blasberg, featuring co-directors Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter, along with producer Panos Cosmatos, Cyrus shared insights on persuading Campbell to collaborate in the film titled “Something Beautiful.

As a gamer, I can relate to this. When it comes to making things happen, just like Naomi, we gamers do the same. There was never an issue for us teaming up, whether it’s collaborating on a project or strategizing in-game. It always felt natural and smooth. And when things flow effortlessly, I know that fate had already decided our collaboration. I believe from the start, this was meant to be something we both experience together, and there couldn’t have been a better time than now. Oh, and did you notice? Naomi is rocking my favorite Thierry Mugler clothes in that video. I only share fashion with friends like her!

Cyrus explained that she and Michael Pollack, their collaborator, penned the lyrics for “Every Girl” specifically for Campbell, as they were effectively expressing her thoughts and feelings.

Cyrus commented on Campbell, stating something unexpected to Blasberg. “She didn’t have any prepared lines,” he said, which left him doubting when they claimed she had already crafted her verse. What amazed him was how it surpassed his expectations. “We aimed to encapsulate her essence, a blend of unparalleled grace, power, beauty, and enduring legacy,” he explained. “Indeed, she is one of our living legends. Conversing with her about fashion in the ’90s, understanding her journey as a mother, and witnessing her transformation has been incredibly inspiring for me.

Although Campbell’s impact was significant, Cyrus mentioned in a broad sense for the project titled “Something Beautiful“, she “was quite guarded about not incorporating numerous references, as I wanted to serve as the reference, something unprecedented… I deeply admire and adore Tina Turners, Donna Summers, Diana Ross, among many others who trod this path before me. This is my voyage, yet they’ve facilitated it by shattering all barriers ahead of me.

Beauty Unveiled: The visual album is set to be screened in cinemas throughout North America on June 12, exclusively for a single showing. It will then become available internationally on June 27.
