MIPCOM: Hulu Takes U.S. Rights to ‘Paris Has Fallen’

As a seasoned gamer and film enthusiast who’s spent countless hours navigating through various action-packed virtual worlds, I must say I’m thrilled about the upcoming TV series, “Paris Has Fallen.” Having grown up on the adrenaline-fueled adventures of Mike Banning in the “Has Fallen” film franchise, it’s exciting to see the storyline continue, this time focusing on a new set of characters in the heart of Paris.

Hulu has acquired the rights for the United States to air the new action series, “Paris Has Fallen,” which is a spin-off from the Gerard Butler “Has Fallen” film franchise. The TV drama is being produced by StudioCanal, Urban Myth Films (known for “War of the Worlds”), Millennium Media, Gerard Butler’s G-Base, and Eclectic Pictures. “Paris Has Fallen” was first aired on Canal+ in France, and Hulu will release it in the U.S. later this year.

In the film titled “Paris Has Fallen“, actor Tewfik Jallab from “Spiral” portrays Vincent Taleb, a security guard tasked with shielding a French Minister who becomes a target for a ruthless terrorist organization. Alongside MI6 agent Zara (known from “Red Notice“) they delve into an intricate web of deceit that could potentially incriminate someone within their own ranks.

The show is based on the popular movie series called the “Has Fallen” franchise, where Gerard Butler plays Mike Banning, a U.S. Secret Service agent. The trilogy includes: “Olympus Has Fallen” (2013), “London Has Fallen” (2016), and “Angel Has Fallen” (2019). Collectively, these films have earned over half a billion dollars at global box offices. A fourth movie, titled “Night Has Fallen“, has been planned, but production hasn’t started yet.

The streaming platform Amazon Prime Video has acquired the rights to air “Paris Has Fallen” in the United Kingdom and Ireland, while SBS will broadcast it in Australia. Meanwhile, the German broadcaster ZDF, one of the co-producers, holds the rights for Germany.
