MM6 Maison Margiela FW25 Is Anything But Black and White

On Wednesday evening, the small botanical garden Giardino dell’Orticoltura in Florence, which includes an antique greenhouse and horticultural library on its outskirts, transformed into MM6 Maison Margiela territory for Pitti Uomo 97.

In the heart of the arboretum, a radiant white conservatory sparkled amidst the night’s shadows. The staff of the French diffusion label warmly welcomed visitors, all clad in equally vibrant attire. Inside this glasshouse, dazzling white lights illuminated walls that seemed to gleam even more, and beverages were served on tables with pristine surfaces.

The ambiance seemed reminiscent of Maison Martin Margiela’s Pitti Uomo show from Fall 2006, where Sebastian Meunier, the creative director at the time, carried out a personal “whitewash” by repainting Teatro Piccini’s structures and flags using matte paint. Previously, the brand had explained to Gap press that this atmosphere conveyed a “strength through vulnerability,” and the white color permeated the subsequent collection.

However, unlike the monotonous atmosphere of its presentation venue, MM6’s Fall 2025 collection painted a contrasting narrative on the opposite end of the color palette. Instead of sticking with a single hue, it embraced a wide range of shades and connotations, from deep burgundy to practical gaffer tape.

Models gracefully walked around the glass house, showcasing the menswear collection’s blend of tailoring and seduction. Star patterns were prominent. Faux mink seemed to flirt with lurex fabrics, finished with a feminine touch. Gloves and motorcycle helmets exuded masculinity. Pagoda shoulders echoed jazz legend Miles Davis’ style. A striking aqua suit was hard to miss.

This presentation by MM6 Maison Margiela was their interpretation of contemporary men’s fashion, a balancing act where the man is simultaneously the focus and the allure. It’s certainly not as straightforward as black and white.
