As a gamer with a penchant for fashion and a soft spot for iconic collaborations, I must admit that this Maison Margiela x Dr. Martens collaboration left me utterly smitten! With my fingers crossed, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the return of the 1460 8-eyelet boots to the fashion stage.
At Milan Fashion Week, Maison Margiela’s sub-label MM6 unveiled its collection, featuring many iconic Margiela elements. A striking piece from this collaboration was a shoe design partnership with Dr. Martens, which stood out in white.
Striding confidently along the runway appeared the MM6 x Dr. Martens’ 1460 8-eyelet boots, meticulously painted white to harmonize with various white-painted items from the collection. The majority of the boot is immersed in a chalky white paint, flaking away in certain spots and around the outsole and laces.
The Spring/Summer 2025 presentation by the house showcased a blend of Margiela’s various periods and design aesthetics, with an emphasis on the recurring white paint theme that has been prominent throughout its timeline. Additionally, cowboy boots were adorned with cracks of white paint in other areas too.
This year at their Fall/Winter 2024 fashion show, MM6 unveiled its inaugural collaboration with Dr. Martens. They presented a unique pairing, a fusion silhouette that merged a derby shoe and a loafer, creating a single, combined design.
