- Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s Women’s Invitation is coming up
- And esports org CBZN has launched it’s own female-focused Athena League too
- The league will form the official qualifier for players in the Phillipines
One issue often encountered in the world of esports is a perceived lag when it comes to gender representation, making it seem like we’re taking one step forward and two steps back. The struggle to provide equal representation for female-focused organizations and competitions compared to those geared towards men has been challenging, but undeterred, trailblazing entities such as CBZN Esports have pushed the envelope with their innovative Athena League launch. This move not only strengthens the existing powerful female presence in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s esports community, but also serves as a beacon of progress in the industry.
Bang Bang’s esports scene, but also symbolizes progress within the industry.
In the Philippines, the Athena League serves as a female-oriented league specifically designed for the widely played game, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. This league functions as an official preliminary competition leading up to the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Women’s Invitational, happening at this year’s Esports World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
1) The Philippines has shown its prowess in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, with team Omega Empress emerging victorious in the 2024 Women’s Invitational tournament. Moreover, this new organization aims not only to bolster those competing for a spot in the invitational but also to offer broader assistance for women entering the world of esports.
Legendary
It’s frequently noted that there’s not much female representation in the esports scene, but a significant portion of this can be attributed to insufficient official backing. For years, it appears that esports was predominantly male-oriented, despite having numerous female fans and players at the grassroots and amateur levels.
It’s great that these athletes are receiving increased recognition from authorities, and tournaments such as open competitions and qualifying rounds provide rising talents an opportunity to refine their abilities and potentially debut on the global stage, a platform that may have otherwise remained inaccessible for them.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is adding another achievement to its collection by participating in the Esports World Cup yet again, much like other esports titles have done before. The game made its debut at this event during its first edition and will be back for the Women’s Invitational tournament as well.
