In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Arena Quests stand out as fantastic new features, particularly appealing to players seeking a captivating long-term gameplay cycle. These quests have a structure similar to event quests and offer unique Challenge Quests with exclusive prizes.
The initial Arena Challenge Quest is titled “Doshaguma of the Hollow.” In this challenge, you’ll face off against a Doshaguma, but its gear is significantly weaker than what you can obtain in High Rank. While Doshaguma isn’t much of a threat in High Rank, due to not being able to customize your own build for this quest, hunting the monster becomes extremely difficult. Additionally, you’ll need to manage your time effectively to achieve a higher ranking, as there are time constraints involved.
It’s fortunate that we have strategies to simplify your hunt for the Doshaguma in the Hollow Arena Quest of Monster Hunter Wilds. Here are some essential tips regarding the elusive Doshaguma.
Requirements for Doshaguma of the Hollow Arena Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds
To take part in the Doshaguma Arena Quest, first, you should advance your Hunter Rank (HR) up to 15. This is achieved by completing the Low Rank campaign and then progressing into the High Rank campaign until you reach HR 15. After that, return to Suja. In Suja, find Tetsuzan and have a chat with him to open the Gathering Hub (Grand Hub). Once you’ve unlocked the Grand Hub, just visit the quest counter, and you can start playing Arena Quests.
In Monster Hunter World, you’ll discover the Doshaguma mission within the section labeled as Challenge Quests. For beginners to Monster Hunter, it’s essential to know that Arena Quests differ from Assignments, Investigations, and Optional Quests. In Monster Hunter Wilds, Arena Quests function similarly to how they did in Monster Hunter Rise. Essentially, you’re assigned a particular monster to hunt within the game’s designated arena (Wounded Hollow). The main goal of an Arena Quest is to hunt the monster as quickly and efficiently as possible, given the specific time constraints. Unlike regular quests, Arena Quests come with pre-set builds and weapons. You cannot customize your own build for these particular challenges.
Each Arena Quest provides various options for selecting weapons. Furthermore, in Monster Hunter World, the Challenge Quests come with a unique build tailored to each weapon category. It’s important to mention that during these quests, you are unable to bring extra healing items, traps, or consumables along with you.
Tips To Complete Doshaguma of the Hollow Arena Quest
The Doshaguma isn’t overly difficult in terms of its combat mechanics. Yet, due to the basic equipment you’ll be given for the mission, catching a Doshaguma might seem as tough as battling monsters like Gore Magala or Arkveld. But don’t worry, there are strategies that can simplify this quest.
As a fan, I’ve come to realize that Doshaguma is quite vulnerable to elemental attacks. Interestingly enough, it shares this trait with a select few creatures in the game, such as the Chatacabra, Balahara, and Arkveld. What makes these monsters unique is their susceptibility to being wounded easily. The best strategy for defeating Doshaguma is by inflicting wounds and knocking it down. Unfortunately, I won’t have the luxury of using traps, but I can certainly make use of the terrain and mounting to my advantage in this battle.
Kick off the chase by being atop your mount, aim for a headshot or back shot against the beast to inflict damage and soften its head and back. Remember that Doshaguma’s head and back take additional damage once softened. Also, riding gives you the advantage of instantly knocking down the monster, making it easier to deal damage. If you’re a close-combat specialist, try sticking near the monster’s front limbs. Doshaguma has a two- and three-hit combo, which can be easily parried (Power Clash) or countered using an Offset Attack.
Furthermore, the front limbs and head are the vulnerable areas on the beast, causing injuries there is simpler. To add to this, as the Doshaguma nears its breaking point, it becomes enraged, inflicting numerous wounds on itself. Take advantage of this by instantly countering with a Focus Strike. Lastly, be mindful of maintaining your health. Without the food enhancements, your defenses will be relatively low, and preserving your HP will be crucial for survival.
