Capcom is maintaining excitement for the upcoming launch of Monster Hunter Rise by showcasing its main creature, Arkveld, during the Sapporo Snow Festival held in Hokkaido, Japan, thereby fueling anticipation.
The 75th anniversary of the festival, taking place from February 4 to 11, will display an array of sculptures, not only from Monster Hunter but also other artistic pieces crafted by experts and local enthusiasts. There’s a wealth of anime-themed snow sculptures on offer, with designs inspired by Studio Ghibli classics such as the Catbus from My Neighbor Totoro and Yubaba from Spirited Away. Furthermore, fans of Mario will have a field day appreciating various Snow Goombas and other famous adversaries from the series’ past.
Next to Arkveld, a character not yet fully understood by Monster Hunter enthusiasts, stands another intriguing figure – a Palico – during the festival. This Palico is strategically placed beside an enigmatic new monster, but the reason behind this arrangement remains unexplained.
Among several marketing strategies that Capcom has lined up for Monster Hunter Wilds, which is one of their most anticipated titles yet, a significant promotional effort involves a collaboration with Monster Hunter Now, Niantic’s mobile game similar to Pokémon GO. When Monster Hunter Wilds is released, players participating in the event will be rewarded with unique items and cosmetics as part of this crossover.
Capcom is determined to keep the positive trend going strong. The massive success of Monster Hunter: World, which sold over 21 million units since its launch in 2018 as stated in their 2024 sales report, has boosted their profits significantly. Now, they’re placing high hopes on Wilds to outshine that achievement.
There’s no arguing that Monster Hunter Wilds is one of the most eagerly awaited games this month, with fans finding intriguing similarities in the patterns on the latest monster’s skin. Luckily, another open beta starts this week, giving both new and returning players a chance to explore the Windward Plains, the first map in Wilds.
More information about the festival can be found on its official website.
