Monster Hunter Wilds’ Frenzied Monsters Are Worthless

Monster Hunter Wilds has been around for two months now, and players have delved deep into its vast endgame material. Many have faced off against the Arch-Tempered Rey Dau, defeated the Leviathan Mizutsune, and overpowered the High Rank version of Zoh Shia. Now, anticipation is building as everyone eagerly awaits the next major update.

Despite the significant advancements made in this new Monster Hunter game compared to its predecessors, some players are puzzled by a particular feature – the Frenzied Monsters. They find these creatures less exciting than expected.

What Are Frenzied Monsters?

In the world of Monster Hunter, “Frenzied Beasts” are creatures that have been tainted by Gore Magala’s “Frenzy” contagion, a persistent issue within the mythos. Notably, only Gore Magala has the ability to transmit this infection. When it approaches, other beasts in the vicinity may also contract it—including our own Hunter.

These infected monsters move faster, but the catch is that

They clearly show a significant decline in health. Typically, these intense hunts conclude within less than ten minutes, causing some players to question: Why are they even there if they fall so swiftly?

Frenzied Materials Are Useless

In this game, you’ll encounter beasts known as “Rampaging Behemoths.” These monsters yield rare “Frenzied” resources when defeated. Although the names may seem intriguing, they aren’t particularly beneficial in the advanced stages of the game. If you happen to have surplus materials, you can recycle them into Artian Components. However, beyond that, there isn’t much reason to accumulate them. Once you’ve crafted the armor set for Gore Magala, these resources lose their worth entirely.

More Frenzied Monsters on the Way?

While it’s uncertain what Capcom plans for the Frenzied Monsters, further game updates are expected, with Lagiacrus set to appear this summer. For now, Gore Magala is primarily found in the Iceshard Cliffs, though recent updates have shown it wandering the Ruins of Wyveria. Regrettably, these areas don’t currently offer Frenzied Monsters for hunting, as Constructs and Guardians are predominantly present within the biome.

Currently, the Frenzied Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds aren’t particularly engaging. However, I’m optimistic that future content updates might improve this situation, particularly if Shagaru Magala steps into Gore’s position and ramps up the difficulty. At the moment, Frenzied hunts seem like a squandered chance, as most players prioritize a genuine challenge over them.
