Approximately six months post-launch, “Monster Hunter Wilds” experienced a resurgence due to Title Update 2, introducing the renowned Lagiacrus and Seregios. These monsters were notoriously challenging for players to battle, with some describing the content as the toughest Wilds has offered thus far.
After the excitement of Title Update 2 has faded, I can’t help but wonder what lies ahead in the gaming world of Monster Hunter Wilds. Luckily, some dedicated players with a keen eye for details might have stumbled upon some hints, suggesting the comeback of an old friend from the series.
Based on posts in the Monster Hunter Leaks subreddit, a well-known leaker named u/RoseKaedae (who had earlier verified Lagiacrus’ comeback) seems to have found fragments of Gogmazios’ coding scattered across the game’s data files.
The source suggests that Gogmazios was conceived as an integral part right from the start. Although there isn’t much information linked to it at present, its existence was subtly indicated during the Open Beta Test. Dataminers stumbled upon status effects like “HEAVY_OIL” and “Tarred,” which were connected to the game’s systems at that time.
To provide a brief recap, Gogmazios is among the most recognized monsters in the Monster Hunter series. This massive, tar-coated Elder Dragon first appeared in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. It’s a six-limbed siege monster, much like Shen Gaoren and Safi’Jiva in size and design. Overcoming it demands a coordinated team of four hunters working against the clock to ensure victory.
In Wilds’ case, Gogmazios appears to be the next major monster arriving in Title Update 3 or 4.

It’s possible that this development fits with Capcom’s future plans for the game, as they have hinted at a more advanced weapon crafting system that could exceed the basic Artian Weapons. Title Update 3 (or 4) might be when Capcom unveils this new feature, especially if it involves farming Gogmazios for scarce materials and unique rewards.
In Monster Hunter World-like fashion, these weapons could function by having hunters defeat Gogmazios to obtain ancient weapons buried within its body. These weapons would then require purification from an oil-based contamination. This method is immersive and realistic within the game’s world, and it seems that Capcom might be taking this route.
Despite much that remains unknown regarding the leak, considering the past performances of these data miners, it wouldn’t shock us if a colossal Elder Dragon appeared in Monster Hunter Wilds with Title Update 3, powering up its laser cannon and preparing for combat.
