Ever since its launch, gamers of Monster Hunter Wilds have been constantly adding mods to elevate their gameplay. These mods not just boost the game’s graphical appeal, but also grant access to premium cosmetic upgrades at no cost.
In general, many players have been able to utilize various mods in the latest Monster Hunter game on PC without facing consequences. Nevertheless, a single player has experienced a permanent ban due to their use of mods.
Monster Hunter Wilds player banned for mods
As a gamer, I recently found myself in hot water with Capcom’s latest adventure game. I shared my experience, albeit unwillingly, on platforms like Bilibili and Reddit, following a ban for employing mods during gameplay.
At first, other players asserted they were merely engaging in modified quests within a shared game room, leading to a multiplayer ban. But upon closer inspection, this wasn’t the true reason for the ban.
Instead, Capcom is prohibiting players from using mods to unlock and utilize paid DLC cosmetics on online servers without purchasing them legitimately. For instance, those trying to access items like the Hunter Layered Armor Set – Feudal Soldier outfit without payment may face a permanent ban.
Using the DLC Unlock mod, many gamers can access the entire Cosmetic Pack for Monster Hunter Wilds without paying. However, it appears that Capcom is not pleased with this bypass of the pass’ $49.99 cost, as bans are still being issued.
This individual was reported because he activated a room in public areas like Recommended Lobbies, launched an SOS Flare, and generated an endless number of investigation tasks while doubling the rewards. This drew quite a bit of attention to himself. It’s likely that multiple players reported him, which eventually led to Capcom investigating and banning him after a manual review.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that Capcom isn’t automatically banning everyone who uses mods in Monster Hunter Wilds, even during multiplayer sessions. But here’s the catch: if you’re using these mods to get premium items for free without paying, there’s a risk of getting caught. And when Capcom notices, they won’t take it lightly.
For PC gamers, there’s an abundance of choices when it comes to adding speedrunning tools or increasing game difficulty through modifications. However, it is essential to exercise caution while playing after installing any mod that the developers might consider malicious.
