In a mere three-day span, Monster Hunter Wilds achieved an unprecedented feat by selling more than eight million copies, thereby setting a new record as the quickest-selling game ever published by Capcom.
In their press release, the publisher didn’t supply any extra details regarding the game’s PS5 sales or global performance. We’ll have to wait for more updates to get specific insights into its success on the PS5 and its standing in diverse regions worldwide.
It’s clear that the game has been number one on the physical sales charts in the UK. Moreover, given its origin, it’s likely to have performed exceptionally well in Japan. However, we won’t have retail data from Japan until Famitsu releases their report later this week.
To give you an idea of the scale, Black Myth: Wukong, a Chinese giga hit, managed to sell 10 million copies within a comparable timeframe. On the other hand, God of War Ragnarok sold 5.1 million units during its debut week, but it was only available on PS5 and PS4.
Capcom continues to dedicate itself to crafting exceptional games, aiming to produce unique titles that exceed user satisfaction.
We firmly believe that Monster Hunter Rise deserves its triumph, as indicated in our 9/10 review: ‘Though its story campaign may falter at times and there are concerns about its performance, at its heart, Rise is an exceptional action RPG, standing tall as a worthy sequel to the legendary World.’
