Moonassi Invokes Inner Worlds at Everyday Mooonday

As a seasoned gamer who’s had the pleasure of traversing countless virtual worlds, I must say that moonassi’s latest exhibition at Everyday Mooonday Gallery was a unique and immersive journey into an entirely different realm. The intricate cross-hatched cosmos felt like stepping into a new game level, with each work inviting me to explore deeper layers of the characters’ emotions.

At Everyday Mooonday Gallery, moonassi delves into uncharted territory for his third showcase. His collection of grand pieces features a revisit to enigmatic portrayals and evocative landscapes. As the artist constructs an intricate, cross-hatched universe, the tranquil piece titled “찰랑 (Smooth)” invites contemplation and reflection

The exhibit narrates a tale of two individuals seeking harmony as tension escalates between them. Contrasting strokes of black ink on pristine Korean paper depict the chasm of their emotional spaces, despite their close-knit physical relationship

The title borrows from the phrase “찰랑 찰랑 (challangchallang)”, often used to describe the smooth surface of rippling water. Vast lakes add to the surreal scenery and internal worlds echo in gentle waves. As hands and faces seem to emit a soft glow, the figures’ feelings reflect and ripple in the water around them.

Gazing beneath or beyond her various aspects, Moonassi’s enigmatic visages entice a universe far more expansive than the confines of their images suggest. (First-person perspective:) I find myself drawn to the depth and mystery hidden in each facet of Moonassi’s captivating presence

At the Everyday Mooonday Gallery in Seoul, the exhibition “Waves of Clarity” runs until September 22, 2024, showcasing pieces that glisten and flow just like a smooth mind
