Mr. Pistachio’s My Melody and Kuromi Actor & Sanrio Character Details Revealed

Netflix’s “My Melody and Kuromi” showcase captivating insights into its latest adversary, Mr. Pistachio. This innovative stop-motion series, inhabited by beloved Sanrio figures, unfolds in a realm known as Mariland. The narrative centers around our titular duo, who opt to venture into the pastry shop industry.

Due to their love for baking cakes, My Melody and Kuromi put forth great effort to excel in a high-profile dessert competition, overseen by renowned pastry chef Mr. Pistachio. At first, they viewed him as competent, but as the story of My Melody and Kuromi unfolded, his true nature was exposed: he harbored malicious intentions towards the main characters, revealing a sinister side.

In Episode 10, we delved into the past of Mr. Pistachio, revealing that he used to be the prince of a realm floating high above Mariland, known as the Cloud Kingdom.

As a devoted admirer, let me share a fascinating tale: once upon a time, the father of Mr. Pistachio was a renowned pastry artist, so skillful that he could craft entire structures out of sugary delights! The king held such high regard for his son that he leveraged this talent, using it to sculpt friends for him!

In the realm of the Sky Sovereign, his intentions were pure as the skies themselves. Every dessert he crafted bore a fragment of his affection. He held faith that Mr. Pistachio, with his kind spirit, would blossom into an exceptional pastry chef one day.

Initially, Mr. Pistachio showed genuine affection towards his servants, Tanba and Sasage, as well as his customers. However, a shift occurred in his behavior when he learned that the customers preferred Tanba and Sasage’s marshmallow desserts over his own cake.

It was asserted by some customers that Pistachio’s accomplishments were largely attributed to his father rather than his exceptional pastry abilities. Initially disheartened, he resolved to enhance his skills, convinced that any foundation built by his father would crumble if he failed.

“If I don’t become a good pastry chef, everything you’ve build will be destroyed, won’t it?”

In a bid for uniqueness, anguished Mr. Pistachio incorporated enchanting spices in his family’s recipes, boasting them as his “unique creations.” However, this act of desperation transformed Mr. Pistachio into a malefactor, as his envy and ambition to excel consumed him bit by bit.

Despite the fact that the enchanted cakes adored by everyone in Cloud Kingdom were filled with magical sprinkles, a heartbreaking incident unfolded when the King failed to pay a visit and acknowledge Pistachio’s rule. Consequently, it was discovered that these very same sprinkles had an unfortunate side effect: they caused the kingdom’s inhabitants to change into zombie-like beings, frantically seeking food – even transforming the King (who mysteriously lost consciousness during this incident) into one of them.

Mr. Pistachio, feeling terrified, secured himself within his restaurant, convinced that the solution to the mayhem was hidden in the heart-shaped sprinkle source that had descended upon Mariland. However, due to the events transpiring in Cloud Kingdom, some labeled him as a villain, suspecting he intentionally caused all the destruction just to satisfy his desires.

Despite his attempt to make My Melody and Kuromi experience the solitude and hardship he felt following the loss of the Cloud Kingdom, ultimately, these Sanrio characters managed to change things around. They assisted in persuading Mr. Pistachio to make amends for his actions and reconcile with his father, who incidentally was the one who instigated the turmoil due to his distress.

As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share my experience with the enchanting stop-motion series, “My Melody and Kuromi,” directed by Tomoki Misato and written by Shūko Nemoto. This delightful show, reminiscent of “Pokemon Concierge,” follows the sugary adventures of its title characters across 13 heartwarming episodes. Premiering on Netflix on July 24, 2025, it’s a must-watch for anyone with a sweet tooth!

Amongst enthusiasts of Sanrio, there’s a buzz about who played the role of Mr. Pistachio in “My Melody and Kuromi”, as the identity isn’t clearly stated. Interestingly, the IMDb listing for this series fails to credit the Japanese voice actor responsible for voicing Mr. Pistachio.

User @v4mpyrluvr (previously known as Twitter) hypothesized that Caleb Yen might be the English voice actor for Mr. Pistachio. This user highlighted that Yen had previously voiced Caelus in Honkai Star Rail, but there’s no concrete evidence confirming his involvement with the role of Mr. Pistachio.

“Is the old caelus va playing pistachio in the new kuromi and my melody show on Netflix????”

After conducting a more thorough investigation, it was verified by a fan at X (@kanvasmagenta) that Kenji Nojima is the Japanese voice actor for Mr. Pistachio. This confirmation was largely based on his distinctive voice, which many other users like @vampreidoll and @T_Tsukipi also recognized from the Netflix series. Their findings were further corroborated by these additional users, confirming that Nojima indeed gave life to Mr. Pistachio in the show.

Beyond just being mentioned in the episode cast where Pistachio was featured, Nojima is a well-known voice actor in Japan, lending his voice to popular anime characters such as Kita from “Haikyuu!!”, Tuxedo Mask in “Sailor Moon”, and Dr. Xeno in “Dr. Stone”. This implies that his voice would be immediately familiar to dedicated anime fans.
