As a dedicated fan of gripping true-crime stories and exceptional acting, I am absolutely thrilled about Hulu’s upcoming limited series based on the Murdaugh murders case! With Patricia Arquette taking on the role of Maggie Murdaugh, it promises to be an unmissable event.
Hulu will dramatize one of the most talked about criminal cases of the past few years.
The broadcaster has given approval for a yet-unnamed limited series, inspired by the Murdaugh murder case, with Emmy winner Patricia Arquette set to play Maggie Murdaugh. This project originates from co-creators Michael D. Fuller and Erin Lee Carr, with Nick Antosca serving as an executive producer.
The project represents a collaboration between Arquette and Antosca, who previously worked together on Hulu’s “The Act.” In this new venture, they are reuniting for the Murdaugh drama, which is produced by Antosca’s production company, Eat the Cat, and Universal Studio Group’s UCP. It’s worth noting that Antosca and Eat the Cat have an overall deal with UCP.
The Murdaugh trial, where Alex Murdaugh was given a life sentence for murdering his wife Maggie and son Paul, has sparked interest across various media platforms. This high-profile case has been featured on numerous podcasts and television documentaries, including offerings from Netflix, Max, and ID. Additionally, Lionsgate Television acquired the rights to develop a book about this intriguing case in 2021.
As a fervent fan, I’m thrilled about Hulu’s upcoming series that takes inspiration from investigative journalist Mandy Matney’s work. She is the visionary behind the Murdaugh Murders Podcast, which later evolved into True Sunlight as it expanded its scope to encompass other intriguing cases.
Fuller (from “Rectify” and “Locke & Key”) is appointed as the showrunner for the upcoming series. He collaborates with Carr, a recognized documentarian behind projects like “Britney vs. Spears” and “I Love You, Now Die”, in their executive producer roles. Alongside them are Antosca and Alex Hedlund, who produce under Eat the Cat and Matney.
