‘Murderbot’ Lands Season 2 Renewal at Apple TV+

Apple TV+ will give Murderbot more time to watch his favorite shows.

The showrunner has commissioned another season of the program, with Alexander Skarsgård portraying the main character, a robot security guard that must conceal its newfound autonomy while protecting its human clients on perilous missions, all while yearning for solitude to binge-watch sci-fi soap operas and contemplate its identity within the cosmos.

The revival for “Murderbot” airs a day before the television show’s initial season finale, which is scheduled for July 11. This CBS Studios production is inspired by the first novel in Martha Wells’ award-winning series, “The Murderbot Diaries“. Chris and Paul Weitz have adapted the book and are responsible for running the show.

The Weitz brothers expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the great reception of ‘Murderbot’ and their excitement about revisiting Martha Wells’ universe, as they collaborate with Alexander, Apple, CBS Studios, and the whole team,” the brothers stated.

Matt Cherniss, Apple TV+’s programming chief, shared his thoughts: “Chris, Paul, Alexander along with the whole ‘Murderbot’ team have produced an exceptionally unique, captivating, humorous, and lively adaptation that has sparked the interest of viewers worldwide. We can hardly wait to reveal what’s coming for Murderbot, and of course, ‘Sanctuary Moon’ in season two.

The series Murderbot features Noma Dumezweni, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, Akshay Khanna, Tattiawna Jones, and Tamara Podemski in its cast. Chris and Paul Weitz serve as executive producers alongside Andrew Miano from their Depth of Field company, along with David S. Goyer and Keith Levine for Phantom Four.
