Music composer Pritam Chakraborty’s office boy arrested for stealing Rs 40 lakh; here’s how police nabbed accused

Indian Bollywood music producer Pritam Chakraborty has fallen prey to a theft involving his assistant. The alleged culprit, Ashish Butiram Sayal (age 32), who worked at Chakraborty’s studio as an office assistant, is said to have stolen approximately 40 lakh rupees in cash. After this incident, a First Information Report was filed and investigations were initiated. In a recent update, Mumbai police have apprehended the accused, who has been taken into custody in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district.

On February 4th, the Malad police station began investigating after they received a report about a theft. Unfortunately, the security cameras at the studio did not manage to clearly show the culprit’s face in their footage.

To identify the suspect, officials examined approximately 150 to 200 security footage from numerous spots, which included areas like Kandivali, Malad, Charkop, Versova, Marve Road, Malwani, and Samta Nagar.

The surveillance camera recordings tracked down Sayal’s actions following his departure from the studio, revealing that initially, he hopped on a rickshaw heading towards Kandivali. Subsequently, he walked for an extended period until arriving at Charkop. Finally, he boarded another rickshaw to reach Marve Road.

Following a brief stroll, he reached Malwani where he spent some time. Subsequently, he hopped into a rickshaw to Samta Nagar, explored the area on foot, then hailed another rickshaw to make his way to Versova.

After walking for a short while, he got to Malwani and stayed there briefly. He then jumped in a rickshaw to Samta Nagar, walked around, and later took another rickshaw ride to end up in Versova.

For approximately eight hours, Sayal moved skillfully among various spots, switching between walking and taking rickshaws as transportation options, until she ultimately departed from the city.

Police tracked down Sayal to Samba city, where officers in the Railway Road district eventually captured him. Upon his arrest, they discovered approximately 34 lakh rupees in cash, as well as an iPhone and MacBook valued at around 2.87 lakh rupees. Further probing uncovered that some of the stolen funds were used to buy electronic devices, which were later seized by officials.

A theft worth Rs 40 lakh was first reported at the Malad police station following an allegation that a staff member had stolen the money from Pritam Chakraborty’s office. The incident was brought to light by the composer’s manager, who promptly contacted authorities upon discovering the missing funds.

As an over-the-moon fan, I’ve got some breaking news: On February 4, around 2 p.m., a shocking incident unfolded at Unimus Record Pvt. Ltd., the illustrious music studio of maestro Chakraborty, nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Goregaon. The heart-stopping twist? A substantial amount of cash, delivered in a bag by a representative from a production house, was mysteriously stolen from the composer’s trusted manager, Vineet Chedda. The intrigue continues…

When the theft occurred, it so happened that Sayal, Ahmed Khan, and Kamal Disha were all in the studio as well. The authorities are now delving deeper into this matter by interrogating those connected to it, in hopes of discovering more information.

According to the officer’s account, once the manager received the money, he put it into a shopping cart-like bag and stored it within the office. Subsequently, he went to Pritam Chakraborty’s apartment within the same building to get his signatures on certain papers.

After coming back, Vineet Chedda found out that a trolley bag with the money inside was no longer there. When he asked his colleagues about it, they said that Sayal had supposedly taken the bag, indicating that he was delivering it to Pritam Chakraborty’s house.

It emerged that Chedda tried reaching out to Sayal, but his calls failed to connect. This made Chedda more suspicious, especially when Sayal turned off his phone altogether. Recognizing something was amiss, Chedda promptly shared this concern with Pritam, who advised him to report the matter to the authorities.
