The movie “Bombay Velvet,” starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, turned out to be a significant flop at the box office, leaving those connected with the film feeling let down. More recently, Amit Trivedi, who created the film’s soundtrack, discussed going through a tough period following the movie’s release. He shared that he put in four years of effort on the film’s music and didn’t anticipate its poor performance at the box office.

In a recent interview with Raj Shamani on YouTube, singer-composer Amit Trivedi discussed his emotional experience after the surprising flop of Bombay Velvet. This talented musician, recognized for his unique style in music, disclosed that he put in a lot of effort to bring jazz into Bollywood through the direction of Anurag Kashyap. However, the movie’s disappointing box office performance took everyone by surprise.

He mentioned that he put in a tremendous amount of hard work and energy into composing music for the past four years. Given his efforts, he naturally expected good results. However, the outcome surpassed even his highest expectations, turning out to be an utter failure instead of just a disappointment.

The movie passed unnoticed, leaving no mark, and it influenced the singer negatively. Trivedi confessed that this situation left him feeling despairing, leading him to ponder about his purpose in life and the reason behind his musical creations.

Reflecting on the turn of events, I found myself grappling with a massive setback – a project that fell short of expectations and didn’t resonate as planned. Frankly, it wasn’t supposed to be this bad; however, sometimes things just don’t work out the way we anticipate. But what was truly shocking was the extent to which it went wrong.

Initially, as the Hindi film industry’s musical terrain was primarily filled with item numbers and love ballads, Amit thought it prudent to concentrate on these genres. But later, he regained control of his emotions and opted instead to focus on innovation and challenge the current norms.

Regardless of the obstacle, the artist behind Namo Namo remains optimistic about his craft. He recognizes that he possesses a great deal of talent in composing music, and he is deeply passionate about it. Simultaneously, he finds joy in making music and aspires to explore various other facets with it.

For those who may not know, Bombay Velvet was a film that was both directed and co-produced by Anurag Kashyap. The storyline was adapted from historian Gyan Prakash’s book, Mumbai Fables, and featured Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, among others, in significant roles.
