Naomi Ackie in Early Talks to Join Tom Rhys Harries to Star in ‘Clayface’ (Exclusive)

Actress Naomi Ackie, known for her versatile roles in “Mickey 17” and “Blink Twice,” has been announced as part of the cast for Clayface within the DC Universe.

Discussions are underway for Ackie to team up with the rising star Tom Rhys Harries, known for his work in Wales, who will portray the main antagonist in the upcoming film directed by James Watkins, titled Speak No Evil. Last week, reading sessions took place in England, and it appears that Ackie is the preferred choice. It’s been reported that formal negotiations between the parties are set to commence this week.

Mike Flanagan penned the screenplay for the body-horror thriller, “Clayface,” which revolves around a notorious Batman nemesis capable of shape-shifting.

The project is likened to the thematic and structural elements found in David Cronenberg’s 1986 film, “The Fly,” which featured Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis. It revolves around the tragic connection between a scientist undergoing transformation into a fly and the reporter documenting his groundbreaking discovery.

The film titled “Clayface” is reported to have a budget around $40 million. It follows an up-and-coming actor whose visage gets marred by a ruthless criminal. As his last hope, he seeks aid from an unconventional scientist reminiscent of Elizabeth Holmes. However, the transformation proves successful – but as we all know, a horror movie wouldn’t be complete without some unexpected complications!

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the release date for this upcoming movie is set for September 11, 2026. This film, one of the early surprises in the James Gunn and Peter Safran DC era, even precedes more renowned characters like Wonder Woman. The director of “The Batman”, Matt Reeves, will be producing this project alongside Lynn Harris and the dynamic duo themselves, Gunn and Safran.

Actress Ackie recently played pop legend Whitney Houston in the 2022 biopic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and appeared alongside Channing Tatum in the horror thriller “Blink Twice,” released last year. Currently, you can see her in cinemas with “Sorry, Baby,” a festival favorite that A24 acquired at Sundance. Her future projects include starring in the Netflix mystery film “The Thursday Murder Club” along with Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, as well as being part of Boots Riley’s movie entitled “I Love Boosters.

She is repped by CAA, Range and Peikoff Mahan.
