As a seasoned festivalgoer with a penchant for both wine and cinema, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming Napa Valley StreamFest! Having attended numerous film festivals over the years, it’s refreshing to see an event that not only embraces the evolving landscape of ‘streamtainment’ but also caters to our binge-watching tendencies.
A new film festival, unlike any other, is coming to Napa Valley.
As a passionate enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement for the first-ever Napa Valley StreamFest happening from April 24-27, 2025! This extraordinary event will showcase an array of podcasts, series, films, and anything else that graces our screens — all through screenings, live recordings, insightful discussions, and unforgettable parties. And the best part? It’s all happening amidst the breathtaking vineyards of California’s wine country!
With a background spanning twelve years at prominent film festivals, Fearon DeWeese, co-founder and executive director of StreamFest, observed that the conventional festival system lags behind the dynamic landscape of ‘streamertainment.’ To embrace the diverse ways we now consume and devour entertainment, from independent films to viral TikToks, we’re introducing Napa Valley StreamFest. Our unique festival design allows viewers not to rush from one theater to another; instead, it offers a thoughtfully designed binge-watching experience, where audiences can view content together, engage in real-life interactions, and discover the charm of Napa Valley.
Juliana Folk, co-founder and board president of StreamFest, stated, “The entertainment industry is experiencing a massive shift – YouTube’s self-distribution option and the Emmys acknowledging web series are merely the start. Today, TikTok stars hold equivalent influence to Hollywood heavyweights, but festivals continue to adhere to traditional methods. It’s past time for a transformation that embraces all creators, from independent filmmakers to digital content producers, all with a shared goal of sharing their narratives. Napa Valley StreamFest is designed to honor this new phase and establish a unique festival model that leads the way.
Veteran festival organizer Michael J. Fox is also a member of the board.
The festival has arranged venues in downtown Napa, which are all conveniently close to one another for easy walking, as well as a variety of accommodations. Among these options are the Uptown Theatre, Feast It Forward Studio Social Collective, and several wineries, including the recently restored Signorello Estate.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place for the first-ever Les Garland Legendary Award. This esteemed recognition is being bestowed upon none other than Les Garland himself – co-creator of MTV, VH1, The Box Television Network, and College Television Networks – who will be honored on April 26th at the Uptown Theatre. Following this grand celebration, we’ll gather for an unforgettable Legendary Artist Dinner. I can hardly wait!
Additionally, joining the festival will be Baron Davis, the two-time NBA All-Star, known for his role in launching the new streaming service, Slic.
