As a fashion enthusiast with a knack for the avant-garde and a soft spot for designers who dare to challenge societal norms, I must say that Natasha Zinko’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection left me absolutely spellbound! This Ukrainian-born, London-based designer never ceases to amaze me with her outlandish creations that push the boundaries of fashion and make us question our current landscapes.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m always eager to push boundaries and stir things up – just like the innovative designer Natasha Zinko from London. Instead of sticking to the norm, she delights in confounding expectations with her jaw-dropping collections that challenge the status quo. Last season, Zinko gave us a glimpse of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, and for Spring/Summer 2025, she’s diving headfirst into the topic of unattainable beauty standards with her “PLASTIC” runway show.
Natasha Zinko established an extraordinary medical clinic focusing on beauty enhancements for £SS25, revealing the usually concealed pre- and post-procedure stages that are typically absent from social media. The line was filled with Zinko’s distinctive apocalyptic atmosphere, attracting numerous spectators to London’s Oval Space, eagerly anticipating the designer to perform “surgeries” on them.
We got what we expected and much more, with several models besides the venue’s gigantic window bandaged post-surgery. The showcase quickly commenced with 46 looks mimicking invasive procedure processes. Models walked the runway wearing surgical vests and carrying cleaning gauzes and lit-up iPhones, followed by pre-wet button-downs paired with double-waisted short shorts.
Moving forward, the designer revamped patient outfits with white uniforms featuring plastic arm bags, contrasted by playful and redesigned underwear dresses. Multi-armed tops and gingham shorts were paired with graphic “add-on” tees and deconstructed sweatpants. Exposed breast implants and bandaged jackets were adorned with black eye makeup. Models strutted down the runway wearing facial restraints, donning nude compression stockings and dresses that inquire “WHO’S YOUR SURGEON?” bluntly. Lastly, Zinko transformed a variety of denim by flipping, warping, and turning materials upside down to create asymmetrical shapes.
