As a lifelong gamer and sci-fi enthusiast who grew up with the original trilogy of Star Wars, I can’t help but feel a sense of childlike excitement when I hear about the potential collaboration between Victor Wembanyama and the galaxy far, far away.
The NBA season is underway, and an upcoming Star Wars project is near as well. While we wait for the arrival of the TV show Skeleton Crew amid the 2024 TV schedule, readers might be interested to know that Hayden Christensen and other SW vets recently rubbed shoulders with one of the elite players in professional basketball. The star in question is young player Victor Wembanyama, who is a massive fan of the franchise. And, after seeing them link up, I’d love to see Wembanyama appear in the galaxy far, far away.
For individuals more versed in science fiction than sports, Victor Wembanyama is the basketball player whose security team prevented Britney Spears from getting close to him. While NBA enthusiasts might not realize it, he’s a big fan of prequel films and had an opportunity to fulfill his dream due to a fortunate set of circumstances.
How Victor Wembanyama Met The Star Wars Actors
A photo shared by @_TheFailedJedi on X, credited to @Wemby_Muse, depicted “Wemby” alongside Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader) and not only Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), but also Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka Tano). Before fans jump to conclusions about Ahsoka Season 2, it’s important to mention that there’s a particular explanation behind this gathering.
According to KENS5, Spacecon 2024 happened in San Antonio and it was there where three notable individuals were special guests. Given that Victor Wembanyama is a key player for the San Antonio Spurs, it’s likely not difficult to arrange a meeting with this trio, even considering the ongoing NBA season. However, getting him involved in a “Star Wars” production might pose a challenge, but I believe it would be worth the effort.
Why Victor Wembanyama Would Be Great For Star Wars
I really enjoy it when athletes make unexpected appearances in films, but Victor Wembanyama is uniquely suited for a role in “Star Wars” even among other basketball players. Standing at 7 feet 4 inches and boasting an arm span of 8 feet, he’s not just extraordinarily tall, but his long arms also set him apart. This makes him an ideal fit for the galaxy far, far away.
His build resembles characters similar to Slenderman, whom the French native portrayed during Halloween last year. Here’s an example:
In essence, Star Wars is a universe teeming with diverse species and extraterrestrial beings in various forms. It seems plausible to consider him as one of these characters. As for a potential role, perhaps he could be portrayed as a young Jedi Knight. However, considering the violent nature of shows like The Acolyte and other series that focus on the brutal treatment of Force-users, I’m uncertain if he’d be interested in such a part. (Although my assumption might not necessarily hold true.)
He might well be the most towering Wookiee ever featured in Star Wars, a role that seems particularly apt considering his newly designed Nike sneakers inspired by this iconic series. These shoes are simply jaw-dropping, so let’s just say they speak for themselves. Here’s a peek at our “Star Wars Fan of the Year”:

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but mention an interesting trivia about Star Wars. You know, the franchise that has managed to blend my two favorite worlds – gaming and sci-fi? Well, it turns out they’ve recruited professional basketball players for some roles in the galaxy far, far away! Joonas Suotamo, who later became Chewbacca after Peter Mayhew, was part of the Finnish national basketball team. And interestingly enough, Lucasfilm hired several Australian basketball players to portray Wookiees during the filming of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. This fun fact is something I’ve come across multiple times in my explorations of the Star Wars universe.
Essentially, I’m pointing out that there might be an opening for Victor Wembanyama if he connects with the right influential individuals. It’s uncertain whether he discussed this with Hayden Christensen and others during their encounter, but I continue to have faith that a resolution can be reached.
Don’t miss the debut of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew by subscribing to Disney+ on December 3. Although it’s unlikely that Victor Wembanyama will join in this time, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for his future involvement in the Star Wars franchise!
