Initially, the acclaimed early periods of the show starred Mark Harmon, famously known for his role as special agent Jethro Gibbs. Harmon is almost interchangeable with the series, which spawned six spin-offs starting from Season 6. Harmon portrayed Gibbs for 18 years before stepping down as a regular cast member in 2021. However, he has since returned to the show in the roles of executive producer and narrator for the prequel series, NCIS: Origins, which debuted in October 2024. Harmon recently discussed Origins and its upcoming seasons that will be available on Netflix with Variety.
