NCIS: Sydney’s Brutal Brawl and Zip Line Gun Fight Revealed

Warning: SPOILERS for the NCIS: Sydney episode “Hell Weak” are ahead!

The latest episode of NCIS: Sydney, entitled “Hell Weak,” set to air in the 2025 TV schedule, was a tough one for partners DeShawn Jackson and Evie Cooper. Not only did viewers discover that DeShawn had left Navy SEAL training years ago, but they were also pursued by the episode’s antagonists and narrowly escaped with their lives. The pulse-pounding sequence of events, accessible with a Paramount+ subscription, featured DeShawn engaging in a grueling fistfight and Evie executing a daring zip line gun battle. Actors Sean Sagar and Tuuli Narkle shared with TopMob their experiences filming these high-octane scenes.

Sean Sagar’s Experience Shooting His NCIS: Sydney Brawl

In an exclusive conversation prior to the airing of “Hell Weak”, the actors candidly discussed their experiences working on the show. They also expressed their expectations about how the unfolding events in NCIS: Sydney will shape their characters. Regarding Sean Sagar, he shared insights about the fight scene he and Blessing Mokgohloa (Petty Officer Axel ‘Axeman’ Beysdorf) choreographed together.

To start, I simply must extend heartfelt applause to my exceptional co-star, Blessing. Together, we underwent countless rehearsals, with the tireless support of our dedicated stunt team. The hours we invested were numerous as we journeyed towards our final destination. Truth be told, I couldn’t have achieved this feat without Blessing’s unparalleled professionalism and athleticism. The challenges we faced were immense, yet we pushed through. After a long day of filming, we would often return for two hours to perform stunts before lunch, only to return again after our meal for more. It was an enduring testament to Blessing’s relentless determination and passion for the craft.

In a wellness retreat operated by former Navy SEAL Finn McKay, who had served alongside Axeman (played by Daniel Widdowson) and his associate Petty Officer Sully ‘Scalpel’ Dunbar, Peter Levinson was brutally murdered. DeShawn and Evie began to unravel the circumstances surrounding Levinson’s demise, which almost led to their immediate peril. However, Finn managed to persuade Axeman and Scalpel to opt for a hunting excursion, providing the agents with precious moments of respite.

The situation escalated to a point where DeShawn and Axeman engaged in a physical altercation, as their firearms were no longer involved. It’s amusingly ironic that Sean Sagar had only praise for collaborating with Blessing Mokgohloa, given his mishap of unintentionally delivering a rather forceful punch to his fellow actor during the same project.

As a movie enthusiast, there was a defining instant when I found myself engaged in an encounter with Blessing – a towering figure who left me awestruck. The thought of him landing one of his powerful blows crossed my mind, knowing it could be a game-changer, perhaps even knocking me out. Surprisingly, the tables turned, and I was the one to land a hit on Blessing. His grace under pressure and profound appreciation for the craft made this encounter truly unforgettable in my acting journey so far. We all invested effort, and I fervently hope that our collective dedication shines through on screen now.

During the altercation, Axeman began gaining the upper hand against DeShawn, but the situation changed dramatically when inexperienced shooter Evie intervened by firing a shot into Axeman’s leg, effectively ending the fight. This incident followed an earlier moment of excitement for Evie and DeShawn when they had briefly separated during their previous encounter.

Tuuli Narkle’s Experience Shooting Her NCIS: Sydney Zip Line Gun Fight

At the health spa where the incident took place, there were zip line facilities available. When Evie and DeShawn split up, Evie decided to utilize the zip line as a diversion towards Scalpel, relying on the seven bullets in her .45 handgun she’d been provided as her only defense. Tuuli Narkle shared this account with me when I asked about this moment reminiscent of NCIS: Sydney:

Additionally, let me mention that our talented DOP ingeniously set up camera equipment on my arms while I navigated the zipline. We also had cameras mounted on helmets. It was truly awe-inspiring! He meticulously handcrafted everything, so I’d like to give him a well-deserved shoutout. However, there wasn’t much preparation involved. I felt as though with the zipline, you merely stand and then leap, and I believe I did just that. Yet, the anxious apprehension and fear reflected in Evie’s eyes as she glided down the zip line, a portion of it was my own.

Everything spiraled due to the discovery that Levinson had discussed the four-year-old death of Navy SEAL trainee Victor Austin during BUD/S training with a reporter. Unbeknownst to him, Axeman and Scalpel were administering steroids to him and other trainees, and they were desperate to keep their actions hidden. However, by the conclusion of “Hell Weak,” Scalpel had perished and Axeman was apprehended, marking another week where justice prevailed.
