NCIS: Who Plays Special Agent Dale Sawyer?

Contains spoilers for “NCIS” Season 22, Episode 15 — “Moonlit”

Although Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) may appear as the most stylish agent compared to the retired Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), he has his own set of issues and idiosyncrasies. For instance, he’s been compelled to take on a secondary job in private security for additional income. Furthermore, he finds himself paired with Special Agent Dale Sawyer (Zane Holtz), an individual who surfaces during “Moonlit” and constantly complicates Nick’s life. This is their fifth encounter, and they still don’t see eye to eye.

In this case, Nick and Dale are reluctantly paired up to probe into the mysterious death of Robert Mozey, a naval intelligence officer. Despite their mutual dislike, they find themselves in the predicament of solving the enigma surrounding Mozey’s demise.

Mozey was found with illicit substances and an alligator bite, leaving them utterly baffled about how he met his end. Eventually, they are forced to cooperate and grow past their differences – regardless of Dale’s opinion on Nick’s scooter or the constant squabbles over what makes a perfect cup of coffee.

It seems that Sawyer is harboring some hidden matters, but the man portraying him, Zane Holtz, has been under the public eye for quite a while now. He was once a heartthrob among teenagers and successfully made his mark in the horror genre, which could be why he looks so recognizable to many.

Zane Holtz has played a vampire — and a vampire hunter

Zane Holtz has had an eclectic career, considering he started acting as a teenager. Back in 2003, he played Barfbag in the cast of “Holes.” Later, he made appearances in numerous projects as a guest star. In 2010, he was seen in the spoof film “Vampires Suck,” portraying Alex. His significant role came with the series “Make it or Break It,” where he took on the character Austin. Subsequently, he returned to the big screen, appearing as Chris in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” a role that showcased an exceptional performance by Ezra Miller.

In “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series,” Holtz took on the role originally created by Quentin Tarantino in the 1996 film “From Dusk Till Dawn.” This TV adaptation might not be widely recognized, but Holtz successfully distinguished himself and made the character of Richie uniquely his own.

From there, he made an appearance as K.O. Kelly in The CW’s brief adaptation of “Katy Keene,” which later led to two more appearances as K.O. on “Riverdale.” Since then, he has been featured in numerous TV movies, feature films, and guest roles, such as the film “Hypnotic” starring Ben Affleck. Currently, it appears he has a consistent role on “NCIS,” although his appearances are not frequent.
