Neena Gupta recalls ‘drunk’ ex-boyfriend mocking her for making ‘bharta’ at Prithvi Cafe; reveals paying for his cigarettes: ‘Thank God, I didn’t marry him’

As a lifestyle expert, I find Neena Gupta to be a true inspiration, not just for her remarkable acting career but also for her resilience and strength that shines through her candid stories of struggle. Her journey from Delhi to Mumbai is a testament to her determination and grit, as she braved the harsh realities of the film industry while supporting her then-boyfriend financially.

Neena Gupta, well-known for her remarkable career path, recently opened up about a sincere experience from her hardship days in Mumbai. She reminisced about an instance when her former partner ridiculed her for preparing ‘bharta’ at Prithvi Cafe to make ends meet. He would mock her, yet he depended on her financially for his cigarettes. Reflecting now, she expressed appreciation for not marrying him.

In an open conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Neena Gupta spoke about the hardships she faced upon relocating to Mumbai along with her ex. With neither of them having work, she resorted to working at Prithvi Café just to make ends meet.

She explained that when she moved from Delhi with her former partner to Mumbai, neither of them had jobs. To support themselves, she began working at Prithvi café. During the evening hours, she’d prepare bharta, and the owner would provide her dinner for free. In the meantime, she’d concoct Irish coffee. They’d spend their time relaxing there, hoping a director or producer would notice them.

As a dedicated follower, I’d like to share a poignant story from Neena Gupta’s past, when she faced an unforgettable moment of struggle. In those days, her partner, perhaps under the influence, ridiculed her for working as a waitress at Prithvi Café. Despite my best efforts to sustain ourselves and even providing him money for his cigarettes, he doubted my decision to work so tirelessly.

One day, my boyfriend arrived and I suspect he was intoxicated, and he inquired if I had traveled all the way from Delhi just to work as a waitress here. He ridiculed me, even though I was the one who paid for his cigarettes. He criticized me for working hard, yet didn’t care about owing me money. Fortunately, I didn’t end up marrying him,” the actress stated.

Additionally, she shared that she’s often the one giving out loans but rarely takes them. She clarified that when she gives money, she doesn’t do so with the hope of getting it back, as collecting debts can create tension in relationships. Instead, she prefers to keep financial matters separate from personal connections, showcasing her generous nature and sensible way of living.

In an interview, actress Neena Gupta shared that she declined two projects temporarily to prioritize the health of her daughter. She’s been cherishing her time caring for her daughter and plans to resume work soon with “Panchayat-4” following this short pause in her career.

For those not in the know, Masaba Gupta and her partner, Satyadeep Misra, have started a fresh journey by giving birth to their daughter on October 11, 2024.
