Actress Deepika Padukone has been making news lately following her departure from Sandeep Reddy Vanga‘s film, Spirit. It is being said that she requested a specific work schedule and a remuneration of 40 crores INR, which the director apparently found unacceptable, leading to her leaving the project. Recently, Neha Dhupia, another celebrity, has spoken up in defense of Deepika, criticizing those who criticize and marginalize new mothers.
On Instagram stories today (June 9), Neha Dhupia expressed her thoughts on the topic of work-life balance, particularly for new mothers. She emphasized that for this concept to become more than just talk, new moms require practical assistance and understanding, rather than being judged or overlooked.
In support of Deepika Padukone, as a fellow working mother, I endorse her call for balanced and thoughtful work schedules.
Previously, during an interview with News 18, acclaimed director Mani Ratnam voiced his approval and referred to Deepika Padukone’s request as justified. Additionally, he expressed joy that the actress finds herself in a place where she can make such demands.
In essence, he articulated the views of many filmmakers and emphasized that factors like these are consistently relevant when selecting actors. Furthermore, Mani pointed out that Deepika’s demand was not excessive but essential.
He underlined the significance of recognizing and catering to these necessities, particularly when juggling personal duties alongside work obligations is concerned.
To those not in the know, Deepika Padukone was said to be captivated by the plot of the film Spirit and how her character was crafted. Not long after, she consented to take part in the production. Unfortunately, events didn’t unfold as anticipated, leading to her departure from the movie.
According to the news, she requested a fee of 400 million rupees from the producers, but their budget only allowed for 200 million rupees for her role. Additionally, she asked for a set work schedule so that she could manage both her professional obligations and personal life effectively. Unfortunately, her requests were not granted by the producers and directors.
In addition to her other tasks, she was instructed to study Telugu. Taking everything into consideration, the actress decided to leave the movie. Shortly after, Triptii Dimri was brought on board to play her part in Spirit.
