The ruthless blade strikes again, this time targeting the Yellowstone-like series, titled , for a second time. The Australian neo-western production has been terminated following its first season, making it another addition to the streaming service’s expanding list of cancellations. Regrettably, the show will not be renewed for its intended second season, despite Territory Season 1 receiving an impressive rating of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Originating from Ben Davies and Timothy Lee, “Territory” is one of several ongoing efforts to replicate the achievement of Paramount’s “Yellowstone.” This captivating series features a talented ensemble, including Anna Torv (“Mindhunter,” “The Last of Us”), Michael Dorman (“Daybreakers,” “Patriot”), Robert Taylor (“Focus,” “The Meg”), and Sam Corlett (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”). The plot revolves around Marianne Station, the largest cattle station in the world. When its ownership is left vacant, powerful groups in Australia’s outback – such as miners, landowners, cowboys, and gangsters – begin to arm themselves in preparation for potential conflicts.
In a shared announcement, Rob Gibson, Easy Tiger CEO, and Ben Davies, Ronde Media CEO and the mastermind behind the show, expressed their sense of achievement and gratitude regarding the series’ success. They acknowledged the hard work of the talented writers, actors, and creatives involved. Simultaneously, Que Min Luu, Netflix’s content director for Australia and New Zealand, also commented, appreciating the series.
We’re deeply grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with such a fantastic cast and production team on ‘Territory’. Together, we brought the breathtaking Australian outback into homes worldwide. Regrettably, there won’t be another season, but we eagerly look forward to future collaborations with everyone involved.

Critics described “Territory” as an engaging neo-Western set in Australia, praising its unusual twists and cultural uniqueness. Unfortunately, comparisons to the show “Yellowstone” seemed to deter some audience members. For instance, Rotten Tomatoes user Tim T stated that “Territory” was a poor imitation of “Yellowstone“, finding it disjointed and unbelievable, while an Australian viewer. Another one-star review came from Andreas R, who felt that the show was merely an inferior copy of “Yellowstone“.
A three-star rating was bestowed upon Godzilla T by the reviewer, yet it fell short when measured against Taylor Sheridan’s acclaimed western series. The critic described it as an attempt to emulate Yellowstone, but with a gloomier atmosphere and even more overused family tropes than in its counterpart, though it failed to match the same level of writing quality or authenticity. However, some viewers appreciated the show, with Margurite L awarding Territory five stars and praising it as a must-watch, likening it to an Australian version of Yellowstone and expressing excitement for a potential second season. Our condolences go out to whoever has to convey that news.
