Netflix is expanding its collection of Korean original series with a new drama titled “Variety“, which features Son Ye-jin, the leading star from “Crash Landing on You“, and Jo Yu-ri, a popular actor and idol who gained prominence in seasons 2 and 3 of “Squid Game“. This upcoming series will offer another captivating story within the K-pop industry.
The forthcoming series is directed by Kim Yong-hoon, known for creating “Mask Girl,” one of Netflix’s most successful Korean productions in 2023. This black comedy thriller remained on the Global Top 10 Non-English TV list for four continuous weeks, reaching its highest position at No. 1 during its second week.
Kim is opting for a change in style with his new project. Instead of delving into the dark and gritty crime world seen in his hit film, Beasts Clawing at Straws, he will be immersed in the glamorous, intense realm of K-pop stardom. The series is expected to delve into the strained dynamics, aspirations, and complex relationships among industry heavyweights, celebrities, and their passionate fanbases.
