Netflix, the popular streaming service, has commenced the filming of four fresh series in Mexico. Notably, one of these series will feature renowned actor Gael García Bernal. This move underscores Netflix’s dedication to showcasing Mexican narratives, penned by local talents on our screens.

After the announcement in February about Netflix investing a billion dollars into local production, the directors and showrunners unveiled the new shows at their Mexican office. The shows are called “Santita”, “Love 9 to 5” (also known as “Amor de oficina”), “I’m Not Afraid” (also known as “No tengo miedo”), and “Corruptors” (also known as “Los corruptores”).

Or, more informally:

In February, Netflix revealed they were investing a billion dollars into local production. Recently, the directors and showrunners showed off their new shows at their Mexican office, which include “Santita”, “Love 9 to 5” (or “Amor de oficina”), “I’m Not Afraid” (or “No tengo miedo”), and “Corruptors” (or “Los corruptores”).

Netflix has officially announced that the production of the series “Lovesick” (previously known as “Mal de Amores”) – a show based on Ángeles Mastretta’s novel and directed by her daughter, Catalina Aguilar Mastretta – will no longer be in production.

As a passionate viewer, I’m thrilled to share that this year will see the addition of new Mexican series on Netflix that I can hardly wait for. Among them are intriguing titles like Snakes and Ladders, The Dead Girls, How to Win the Lottery, The Gringo Hunters, Unspeakable Sins, and No One Saw Us Leave. These captivating series promise an exciting viewing experience!

As a passionate fan, I’d rephrase it as: “I’m all about broadening the tales we share, with authenticity at the heart. To ensure this, I’m pouring even more resources and effort into the initial stages of production, as investing time here yields remarkable benefits for both the creators and the viewers.” This is how Carolina Leconte, Vice President of Content for Netflix Mexico, puts it.

Below is a closer look at the four new Mexican series unveiled by Netflix on Tuesday.
