Netflix, recognized as one of the premier streaming platforms, boasts an extensive collection of movies catering to its audience. Monthly, a plethora of fresh films are uploaded, but regrettably, certain popular titles must also be taken down from the service.
In February 2025, popular movies like Dune, Snowpiercer, and The Fast and the Furious franchise were taken off Netflix, surprising many viewers. If you have a stack of films to watch on your list, some might depart from Netflix quicker than expected. Keeping this in mind, here’s a list of all the movies that will be leaving Netflix in March 2025.
‘Inception’ (2010)
Leaving March 1
Christopher Nolan’s groundbreaking film, titled Inception, might well be one of the most remarkable movies of this century. With a genius idea and a visionary director at its helm, it is truly a cinematic masterpiece. The lead role is played by Leonardo DiCaprio, in a movie that went on to win an Oscar. This film tells the story of Dom Cobb, a skilled thief who excels at infiltrating people’s subconscious minds as they sleep, a talent he uses for grand larceny.
If Cobb is assigned the seemingly unachievable mission of implanting a thought in a powerful entrepreneur’s mind, he needs to think meticulously. Failure to do so could lead to unexpected consequences that may even impact his own life. By the way, Inception will be taken off Netflix on March 1, so don’t forget to catch it before then!
’21 Bridges’ (2019)
Leaving March 1
One of the rare films featuring Chadwick Boseman before his tragic passing is “21 Bridges,” directed by Brian Kirk. This crime thriller follows the story of NYPD detective Andre Davis as he pursues two cop killers in Manhattan, suspecting that the situation may be part of a larger conspiracy after finding a critical clue.
In the heat of the investigation, drastic steps are taken to keep suspects confined within the city, and all 21 bridges are sealed off to achieve this goal. It’s a captivating and thrilling scene where Boseman shines yet again as an action star, but the movie will be taken down from Netflix on March 1, so make sure you catch it before then!
‘In the Heart of the Sea’ (2015)
Leaving March 1
Titled “In the Heart of the Sea“, this film centers around a nautical adventure, boasting an ensemble of top-tier actors including Chris Hemsworth, Cillian Murphy, and Tom Holland. Ron Howard (Apollo 13) is at the helm as director. The plot unfolds in the harsh winter of 1820, recounting a harrowing true event that served as the foundation for Herman Melville’s classic novel, Moby-Dick.
The novel only shares part of the story, but the movie, inspired by Nathaniel Philbrick’s non-fiction book “In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex“, will delve into the consequences of the disaster. With the crew’s survival at stake, they are pushed to make unthinkable choices. “In the Heart of the Sea” is set to be released on March 1, 2025.
‘Aftersun’ (2022)
Leaving March 21
The movie titled “Aftersun” is a poignantly stunning teen drama that was both written and directed by Charlotte Wells. Following its premiere in 2022, it garnered widespread acclaim for its emotionally gripping depiction of a father-daughter relationship, as well as exceptional acting by the principal actors, Paul Mescal and Frankie Corio. A24, the distributor, succinctly summarizes the plot of “Aftersun” in this manner:
In a declining vacation spot, 11-year-old Sophie cherishes precious moments with her caring and idealistic dad, Calum (played by Paul Mescal). As the world of adolescence begins to emerge, Calum battles privately with the pressures of life outside of fatherhood. Two decades later, Sophie’s heartfelt memories of their last trip serve as a poignant and heart-wrenching depiction of their bond, as she strives to understand the father she knew against the man she didn’t, in Charlotte Wells’ remarkable and emotionally intense debut movie.
Aftersun will leave Netflix on March 21, 2025.
