Interestingly, it seems that Netflix has secured the series based on the Twilight books and revealed that the storyline won’t follow the original novel but rather the spin-off book, Midnight Sun, instead
According to Variety, Netflix has directly commissioned the series “Midnight Sun,” and Sinead Daly is set as the writer and executive producer. Daly brings her previous experiences from shows like “Tell Me Lies,” “Raised by Wolves,” “The Get Down,” and “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” to this new project. The novel’s author, Stephenie Meyer, began working on “Midnight Sun” in 2008 but had to pause when the manuscript was leaked online. The completed book, published in 2020, revisits the “Twilight” story from Edward Cullen’s viewpoint. The recent trend of reviving popular young adult literature to capitalize on audience nostalgia is evident with the releases of “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” and the Disney+ revival of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
