Netflix Plans Doc for ‘Stranger Things: The First Shadow’ Stage Show

Netflix plans to unveil a behind-the-scenes film detailing the production process of their stage production, titled “Stranger Things: The First Shadow“.

The documentary titled “Behind the Curtain: Stranger Things – First Shadows” provides an exclusive backstage glimpse into the production of the play that debuted on London’s West End in December 2023. This intriguing behind-the-scenes look is set to air on Netflix starting from April 15.

The news arrives as “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” prepares for its initial Broadway preview on Friday at the Marriott Marquis Theatre. The official opening night is set for April 22nd.

The play, penned by Kate Trefry, overseen by Stephen Daldry and jointly supervised by Justin Martin, has been structured as a precursor to the TV show.

1959 in Hawkins, Indiana, the Creel family is on a quest for a new beginning, particularly their teenage son Henry, who yearns to flee his turbulent history. At first, things seem promising – he makes friends and even joins the school play. However, when a series of chilling incidents rock the town, Henry is compelled to grapple with a terrifying revelation: could there be an inner force linking him to the sinister events unfolding in his surroundings?

The main cast of 34 actors on Broadway features Louis McCartney, returning to play Henry Creel following his initial portrayal in the West End, alongside T.R. Knight from “Grey’s Anatomy.

The First Shadow of Stranger Things was jointly produced by Netflix and Sonia Friedman Productions. The Duffer Brothers served as creative producers, while 21 Laps Entertainment took on the role of co-producer.
