Netflix Sci-Fi Action Flick War Machine With Reacher Star Alan Ritchson Enters Production

As an avid movie enthusiast with a soft spot for action-packed thrillers, I am absolutely thrilled by the upcoming projects featuring the versatile and charismatic Alan Ritchson. The imminent release of War Machine promises to add another notch to his belt as an action movie superstar, and I can’t wait to witness the spectacle unfold on the big screen.

The iconic action star will undoubtedly solidify his status as a cinematic legend with the forthcoming Lionsgate production, “War Machine”. This project has made significant progress, as filming for the sci-fi action adventure is now underway in Victoria, Australia. Patrick Hughes, director of “The Hitman’s Bodyguard”, is ready to lead this story about a band of Army Rangers confronting an enigmatic and extremely lethal danger.

Based on Variety’s report, filming for “War Machine” is set to occur not just in Melbourne, but also around Bright, Myrtleford, and Docklands Studios. As per VicScreen’s announcement, production will span from September to December, with a New Zealand team filming for three weeks towards the end of November and December. The project is expected to generate approximately 2,100 job opportunities in Victoria, support around 80 local businesses, and inject over A$73 million ($49 million) directly into the Victorian economy.

In addition to Alan Ritchson, the rest of this movie’s star-studded cast features Dennis Quaid, known for his roles in “Reagan” and “The Day After Tomorrow,” Stephan James from “The Piano Lesson” and “If Beale Street Could Talk,” Jai Courtney from “The Suicide Squad,” Esai Morales from the upcoming “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning,” Blake Richardson, Keiynan Lonsdale of “The Flash,” and Daniel Webber, who appeared in both “The Dirt” and “The Punisher.” You can read more about War Machine’s plot below.

As the last 24 hours approach in the world’s most rigorous selection procedure, a group of Army Rangers face an adversary that surpasses their wildest expectations.

Although the exact release date for “War Machine” has not been announced yet, given the production timeline, it’s safe to say that we can expect the movie to premiere next year. The film is scheduled to be shown in Australian cinemas by Roadshow Films, and will make its international debut on Netflix.

Alan Ritchson Will Return as Reacher in 2025

Alan Ritchson has experienced a swift rise to fame since playing the roaming avenger Jack Reacher in Amazon Prime Video’s “Reacher.” In the initial season, Ritchson is cast as the lead character, a former U.S. Army Military Police Major turned nomad, who gets pulled back into action when he’s falsely accused of murder. Adapted from the book series by author Lee Child, Season 2 concluded in January, with Reacher embarking on another mission after his old military comrades mysteriously begin meeting untimely ends.

The show on the streaming service has been a huge success, and they’re planning a third season now. It was recently announced that the next installment of the Jack Reacher series will be adapted from the seventh book, “Persuader.” In this story, Reacher goes undercover to save an informant who is being held by an ominous adversary from his past. Naturally, Ritchson will reprise his role as the lead character. The third season also promises to introduce some fascinating new characters, including several formidable villains who can match Reacher’s prowess and power.

You can currently stream the initial two seasons of “Reacher” on Amazon Prime Video. The third season, slated for release in 2025, will be making its debut then.
