As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’m beyond excited about Netflix’s latest move to hire Alain Tascan as president of their gaming division. With over 30 years in video game development, production, licensing, and studio building, this man is a true industry veteran. His tenure at Epic Games alone speaks volumes – he oversaw the creation of blockbuster titles like Fortnite, Lego Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys!
Netflix is persisting in expanding its horizons towards video games, appointing Alain Tascan as the head of Netflix Games, their dedicated gaming unit.
“Netflix’s co-CEO, Greg Peters, announced that Alain brings more than three decades of expertise in international video game creation, manufacturing, licensing, and establishing studios. He is known for his enthusiasm for producing excellent games and a history of taking daring creative risks. We’re delighted to have him head Netflix Games.”
“Netflix consistently outshines in the rapidly changing world of entertainment, impressing viewers globally with its groundbreaking approaches. I’m excited to contribute to this impressive team and their foundation in the games sector. In my view, Netflix is perfectly poised to reshape the future of gaming.”
Tascan previously held the position of Executive Vice President for game development at Epic Games, the renowned company behind the hit title “Fortnite.” During his tenure at Epic, he managed the creation of “Fortnite,” “Lego Fortnite,” “Rocket League,” and “Fall Guys.” Prior to Epic, Tascan established Montreal-based studios for both Electronic Arts (EA) and Ubisoft, making Canadian city a significant player in the video game industry.
he succeeds Mike Verdu, who is shifting to a new role at the company in game development.
Netflix made its debut in the gaming industry in the year 2021, concentrating mainly on mobile games as part of the subscription package for its users. In order to create games internally, the company has procured a few small game development studios. They are notably enthusiastic about producing games based on their exclusive intellectual properties. According to Netflix, a multiplayer version of the popular show “Squid Game” is scheduled to be launched this year, coinciding with the premiere of its second season.
