As a dedicated fan of all things culinary and Korean, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the renewal of “Culinary Class Wars” for a second season! Having watched every episode of the first season, I can attest to its addictive blend of high-stakes competition, mouthwatering dishes, and sharp-witted commentary from Paik Jong-won and Anh Sung-jae.
Food enthusiasts who are Netflix subscribers can look forward to savoring more episodes of the much-loved culinary competition series, Culinary Class Wars. The streaming platform announced on Tuesday, from Seoul, that it has decided to renew the highly successful Korean show for a second season.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but get excited about the thrilling cooking competition show, “Culinary Class Wars.” Modeled after Netflix’s popular Korean reality series, Physical 100, this program brings together 100 elite chefs, dividing them into two groups: the star-studded white spoon team (celebrity chefs) and the determined black spoon team (non-celebrity chefs).
The Culinary Class Wars show, which premiered a month ago, was a massive success on Netflix, captivating both Korean and international viewers. In fact, it became the first unscripted Korean series by the company to hold the number one spot on their global top-ten list for non-English series for three weeks in a row.
According to Netflix, the primary creative crew who contributed significantly to the first season’s triumph – producers Kim Hak-min and Kim Eun-ji, together with writer Mo Eun-sol from Studio Slam – are set to rejoin for the upcoming second season.
As a huge fan myself, I can’t express enough gratitude to you all for your unwavering support. It’s because of you that we get another chance to continue our journey together with Season 2. We promise to pour our hearts into every scene and strive to meet your expectations.
Ki Hwan Yoo, Netflix’s content director in Korea, stated: “Producing shows of this magnitude requires a great deal of hard work, but we are very proud of the results achieved by our diligent team. As we broaden our range of unscripted programming, we eagerly anticipate sharing more distinctive and thrilling titles with you in the near future.
Over the past two years, Netflix has significantly boosted its investment in Korean unscripted productions, aiming to replicate its worldwide success with K-dramas in the reality genre. By 2024, Netflix’s slate of unscripted shows expanded to 10 titles – a doubling from what they were producing in 2022. Starting in August, they started launching a new Korean reality series each month. Upcoming launches include the second season of the zombie variety show, “Zombieverse: New Blood,” then the new series “Rugged Rugby: Conquer or Die,” offering a glimpse into the uniquely intense and rugged world of rugby in Korea. Early next year, Netflix’s first K-reality sensation, “Single’s Inferno,” is set to release its eagerly awaited fourth season.
