As a gamer with a soft spot for sports and racing games, I must admit that I was thrilled when Netflix announced its limited series on Ayrton Senna. The legendary F1 racer has always been an iconic figure in the world of motorsports, and his story is one that deserves to be told.
Netflix has unveiled the teaser for the upcoming Senna limited series, focusing on the iconic Formula One racer Ayrton Senna. Tragically, he met his end in a racing accident at just 34 years old. Throughout his career, Senna claimed three Formula One championships and triumphed in 41 Grands Prix.
In a six-part series, Gabriel Leone portrays the Brazilian auto racer. This captivating story commences during Senna’s early days in Formula Ford racing and follows his career up to the tragic 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, where Senna met his untimely demise in a racing accident while leading the race.
“Even before I got into a car, I already knew I was born to race,” Leone says in a voiceover.
The show was filmed in Brazil and scenes are largely in Portuguese with some English.
The show not only explores Senna but also focuses on his parents Miltão, portrayed by Marco Ricca, and Zaza, played by Susana Ribeiro, as well as his girlfriend Xuxa, acted by Pâmela Tomé. Furthermore, it includes Laura Harrison, played by Kaya Scodelario, a journalist who forms a friendship with the racer. Lastly, Matt Mella takes on the role of Senna’s fierce McLaren rival, Alain Prost.
Take a look at the official preview for Netflix’s “Senna” up there. The series is set to debut on Netflix on November 29th.
