As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’ve been following the streaming landscape closely, and it appears that the relentless pruning persists. Instead of abruptly axing its offerings, our beloved streamer is opting for a more subtle approach – phasing out several of their self-produced TV shows.
Initially, the allure of streaming was rooted in the promise of ad-free content and the freedom for these fledgling studios to create and distribute projects unencumbered by the constraints of Hollywood. However, it seems that dream is gradually fading, with the removal of original TV shows being just another brick in the wall of what appears to be the inevitable decline (or perhaps dilution) of streaming as we once knew it.
Starting from February 2, 2025, the highly acclaimed Hungarian romantic drama , with an impressive 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, will no longer be available on Netflix. This gives viewers a limited time to watch this story about a man and a woman who meet at work and discover that they share similar dreams in their sleep before it disappears from the platform. Coming up next is the spy thriller “The Coldest Game,” headlined by Bill Pullman. In this film, directed by Łukasz Kośmicki, we follow the story of Joshua Mansky, played by Pullman, who is an alcoholic chess champion and mathematical genius. This character becomes embroiled in the escalating Cuban missile crisis of 1962, a situation that could potentially disrupt global peace. Unfortunately, “The Coldest Game” will be leaving Netflix on February 8, 2025. Despite receiving poor reviews from critics (it currently has a rating of 0% on Rotten Tomatoes based on just 5 reviews), with Bill Pullman in the lead role, it’s definitely worth giving this film a watch before it disappears!
Netflix Has Become Merciless in Its Approach
On February 10, 2025, the Netflix anime series “Cyborg 009: Call of Justice,” initially aired in 2017, will no longer be available for streaming. This limited series follows the titular group of cyborgs as they strive to lead ordinary lives, but are eventually compelled to battle once more for humankind’s sake. Additionally, on the same date, “Until Life Do Us Part” (Portuguese: “Até Que a Vida Nos Separe”), a well-received romantic drama from Portugal, will also be removed from Netflix. This series focuses on the Paixao family as they navigate the challenges and hardships that life presents to them.
Unfortunately, more unfavorable news arises. Starting from Valentine’s Day, 2025, the action-adventure martial arts series known as “Handsome Siblings” will be leaving Netflix. This means fans don’t have much time left to follow the story of these twin martial artists. A week later, on February 21, 2025, Netflix will also say goodbye to the stand-up comedy special “Sommore: Queen Chandelier,” starring Sommore, who is often called the “Queen of Comedy.
In summary, the teen comedy-drama titled “Unstoppable” (rated 7.2 by viewers on IMDb) will depart from Netflix on February 28, 2025. This Mexican series follows a group of friends embarking on a road trip, only for an unforeseen fourth passenger to disrupt their initial plans. Therefore, it’s advisable not to postpone watching the shows and movies you have queued up, as they might be among those potentially removed from the streaming platform.
