As a long-time gamer and avid streamer, I’ve seen my fair share of streaming service bundles come and go. But the recent announcement of Disney+, Max, and Hulu joining forces has piqued my interest in a way that none have before.
As a busy mom with three kids and a full-time job, I can’t deny the allure of convenience when it comes to streaming services. So when I heard about Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ being bundled together for one affordable price, I was intrigued.
Today marks the launch of Disney+, Max, and Hulu’s streaming bundle in its newest form. This package can now be subscribed to with either an ad-included or ad-free option. The more affordable ad-supported plan goes for $16.99 per month, whereas the ad-free version costs $29.99 monthly. Despite appearing costly at first glance, the company promises a substantial discount of up to 38% for both new and returning subscribers. And indeed, that savings is a fact.
Should You Get the New Disney+, Max, and Hulu Streaming Bundle?
As someone who has struggled to manage my finances in the past, I can certainly understand the appeal of a new streaming bundle that promises to save me some money. But as I sat down to crunch the numbers, I was taken aback by the realization that the ad-supported bundle of all three services would cost me just as much as the more expensive Max subscription tiers for each individual service.
For current subscribers, there will be some effort required to merge their plans based on their specific subscription methods. However, the benefits seem to outweigh the effort. Unlike the “StreamSaver” plan offered by Netflix, Peacock, and AppleTV+ (quite a creative name you came up with!), which is exclusive to Xfinity clients and something called Venu (Appappally Google says it’s related to sports), the new Warner Bros. and Disney bundle is accessible to all subscribers, not just a select group.
According to the FAQs, it appears that subscribers can still use all three apps independently, except for those with a quirky preference for browsing Hulu content on Disney+ due to the unusual combination of titles like “The First Omen” and “Bluey.” However, it’s important to note that the ad-free Max plan, which supports streaming on four devices simultaneously and provides access to certain 4K UHD, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, and HDR 10 content, is not part of the new bundled offer.
Recently, Disney+ announced some updates to enhance user experience and increase engagement on their streaming platform. These improvements include a more sophisticated suggestion system and continuous streaming of franchise content from Marvel and other brands.
