New Elsbeth First Look Clip Reveals Carrie Preston's Fun Reaction To A Flirty Fire Marshal, But Rob Riggle's Character Could Cause Problems

As a fan who has been following Elsbeth’s journey since its inception, I must say that the addition of Nathan Lane and now Rob Riggle to the cast is nothing short of exhilarating! The combination of Kaya Scoloderis’ witty banter with Elsbeth and the new characters’ intriguing backstories has me absolutely hooked.

In the 2024 TV lineup, Elsbeth will be advancing following the addition of Nathan Lane to portray the initial antagonist of Season 2. Despite several months remaining until Michael Emerson teams up with Carrie Preston on CBS’ successful show, this week marks Rob Riggle’s debut as a character potentially causing trouble for the leading lady. Matters may become more complicated when Elsbeth and John Behlmann’s charming fire marshal, introduced in this week’s case, begin to develop mutual feelings – watch the clip introducing the new character!

In the upcoming second episode of Season 2, titled “The Wrong Stuff,” sparks of various kinds will be ignited, as it appears the week’s victim met his demise in a blaze caused by vaping. Given that the character in question is Elsbeth, it’s likely there are deeper layers to this story than what Rob Riggle’s character suggests regarding the death. With numerous challenges on Elsbeth’s plate following the season premiere, a diversion in the form of an appealing fire marshal might be just what she needs – if he turns out to be nothing more than that, of course.

The video offers a delightful sneak peek into the upcoming episode, especially due to Elsbeth’s amusing responses as it becomes evident that Fire Marshal Jake Turling has feelings for her. Moreover, it’s intriguing to catch glimpses of Kaya’s reactions during their interaction, as the bond between Kaya and Elsbeth, which endured the deceit of Season 1, continues to flourish in Season 2. (Remember, you can rewatch Season 1 on Paramount+.)

Check out CBS’ description for “The Wrong Stuff” below:

When a billionaire meets an unusual end in a space training exercise gone wrong, Elsbeth harbors suspicions towards Neal, a rival magnate and aspiring astronaut with unresolved animosity, as the possible culprit. Furthermore, Elsbeth’s routine is disrupted when she encounters an old work acquaintance from Chicago who resurfaces in her life.

I’m eagerly anticipating a Neil Armstrong joke involving Neal, given Rob Riggle’s character. With Christian Borle from ‘The Good Wife’ and ‘The Good Fight’ joining ‘The Wrong Stuff’, it seems quite likely that his return will flip her day upside down, regardless of the circumstances.

Since Carrie Preston and Wendell Pierce previously mentioned that Elsbeth doesn’t need to watch The Good Wife or The Good Fight, it will be intriguing to observe how Borle portrays Carter Schmidt in the series.

Luckily, the wait for the outcome won’t be much longer. I’m especially eager to find out what happens next with Elsbeth and the fire marshal in the upcoming episode. Catch up on Carrie Preston’s character’s journey in the next new episode of Elsbeth, airing October 24 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.

The second season directly follows new episodes of Kathy Bates’ Matlock, and Preston shared her thoughts on Matlock replacing So Help Me Todd to air ahead of Elsbeth.
