As a die-hard New Girl fan who’s been with this quirky gang since its debut in 2011, I can’t help but feel like Schmidt when he finds out that Jake Johnson is apparently holding up a potential revival. It’s a bittersweet feeling, really – on one hand, I’m thrilled to see Lamorne Morris and the rest of the cast still talking about our beloved show. On the other, it’s Nick Miller who seems to be standing in the way of more Schmidt-Winston banter and Jess-Nick romantic entanglements.
The TV series “New Girl” has solidified its status as one of the iconic shows from the 2010s. Its cast’s chemistry was unquestionable, with each character being fully developed and amusing. However, some characters stood out more for their comedic prowess. To this day, it continues to be a beloved show among fans, and many continue to dream of a comeback. Fresh from his 2024 Emmy victory for portraying Deputy Witt Farr in Fargo‘s Season 5, and following the release of his latest film Saturday Night, Lamore Morris had an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. During this chat, the comedic actor discussed his Emmy win and other topics. Unavoidably, he was asked about potential new episodes of New Girl. He shared that one of his co-stars is apparently the reason we haven’t seen any new installments yet.
The series has received a tremendous amount of praise, with even more affection shown following its release on Netflix. It seems as though the show is being appreciated at an entirely new level compared to its initial run, and there’s a fresh wave of fans discovering it. Despite the fact that we haven’t been on the air for years, I’m still frequently asked about a new season. However, there will be no additional seasons unless Jake Johnson expresses interest in continuing. As of now, everyone else is ready to participate, but unfortunately, Jake seems reluctant. Fingers crossed that Liz Meriweather is currently working on some ideas! But, considering Jake’s current stance, it would likely have to be a continuation without him involved.

However, it’s important to consider an actor’s availability and salary demands before making a decision about renewing the show.
