As a long-time movie enthusiast who grew up collecting Happy Meal trinkets and cherishing popcorn buckets from the golden age of cinema merchandise, I can confidently say that the upcoming Gladiator II popcorn bucket is a game-changer. The Roman Colosseum design is a brilliant nod to the original film’s iconic setting, but it’s the augmented reality battle feature that truly sets this bucket apart.
Ever since the popular Dune popcorn bucket hit the scene, film studios have been coming up with innovative ideas for movie-themed containers. This isn’t surprising if you consider their history. For instance, we’ve seen some bold designs like Deadpool 3’s racy bucket and Alien Romulus’s unsettling tub. Recently, there’s been a steady stream of creative buckets. Now, the upcoming Gladiator II is joining the trend with a unique feature that none of its counterparts have, and honestly, I can’t help but want one.
Cinemark Theaters shared a video on their social media platform (previously known as Twitter), unveiling the latest promotional popcorn bucket for the upcoming movie “Gladiator II”. This unique design mimics a Roman colosseum, making it quite impressive. But that’s not all! The video also demonstrates an augmented reality (AR) battle that can be accessed by scanning the QR code on the bucket once you’ve finished your popcorn. Give it a watch:

From the feedback in the comments, it appears that the unique bucket design is well-received, with many appreciating the creative touch and the way the new feature complements its simple aesthetic. This innovative idea could inspire other creators to push their boundaries when crafting popcorn containers for theater audiences. Frankly, it’s hard not to be amused by this! (I couldn’t resist a little humor myself.)
I enjoy small knick-knacks and trinkets, especially the ones I got from old Happy Meals with collectible cups. To be straightforward, I didn’t have much interest in watching Gladiator II , except for Pedro Pascal. However, the thought of a tiny augmented reality battle happening within my popcorn kernels now makes me incredibly joyful.
The popcorn bucket and promotional cup currently being offered for Ridley Scott’s newest movie aren’t the first ones released – Regal Movies had already launched a promotion with their own cups and buckets earlier this month. Therefore, if you’re interested in the Colosseum-style bucket, you may only be able to find it at Cinemark cinemas.
As a movie enthusiast, it’s heartening to witness the resurgence of those fun popcorn buckets, far from being a novelty, they’re making a grand comeback! What excites me the most is the inclusive approach towards film genres. Whether it’s comedies, horror, or intense action/drama films, they all seem to be receiving this special treatment. I can’t help but feel thrilled about this development!
Admittedly, I can’t help but feel a bit self-conscious about being eager to watch a movie merely because my favorite actor, Pedro Pascal, is starring in it. Fortunately, I’m not alone in getting excited over him and his iconic helmet. However, it appears that there are more reasons to look forward to the film than just Pascal and his helmet. The early responses to “Gladiator II” have been generally positive, which is encouraging news. Consequently, it seems that cinema-goers should find themselves fully immersed in the movie while enjoying their popcorn from that beloved bucket.
It appears that the massive-sized bucket, reminiscent of a colosseum, will likely go on sale as we get closer to the theater release of “Gladiator II” on November 22nd. In the meantime, I recommend treating yourself by watching the initial movie, featuring Russell Crowe, which you can stream with a Paramount+ subscription.
