New leaks suggest GTA Online could be finishing with a bang

As a dedicated fan of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) since its early days, I’ve witnessed the evolution of GTA Online from a mere sidekick to GTA V into a standalone behemoth that has kept me and millions of other players hooked for over a decade. The idea that Rockstar Games might be planning to wind down GTA Online is bittersweet and leaves me with a sense of nostalgia and anticipation for what’s next.

I’ve been playing GTA Online for over eleven years now, and it’s become a significant part of my gaming experience. It’s hard to envision a world where I don’t log in to explore Rockstar Games’ vibrant online universe. With the rumored release of GTA 6 just around the corner in 2025, there are concerns about what this means for the future of GTA Online. As a dedicated gamer, these recent developments have left me feeling uneasy.

Rockstar has consistently provided new content for GTA Online, starting with the major Heists update in 2015. More recently, in 2024, they introduced The Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid, The Chop Shop, and Bottom Dollar Bounties as part of an ongoing series of updates. However, even the most devoted players eventually crave something new.

Rockstar update could spell the end of GTA Online

I’m excited to share that it looks like Rockstar is developing a public version of the Mission Creator for GTA Online! With the recent Bottom Dollar Bounties update, we’ve been given a sneak peek into this new feature, although it currently remains empty. Can’t wait to see what amazing user-generated content will emerge from this tool! #GTAOnline

According to reliable GTA leak source TezFun, there are indications that Rockstar Games is preparing to release a public version of the Grand Theft Auto Online Mission Creator. A related script named “public_mission_creator.ysc” has been identified, although it currently holds no content. This implies that the feature may become available soon.

A public Mission Creator opens up an opportunity for us to engage with user-generated content. The success of roleplaying on GTA RP servers demonstrates a strong desire for creativity within the fanbase. With Bottom Dollar Bounties not being particularly imaginative, it might be worth considering letting players take the lead instead.

As a long-time player of Grand Theft Auto Online, I must admit that the recent announcement of a major update has left me both excited and apprehensive. On one hand, the prospect of having creative freedom to design our own missions is an enticing one, offering a new level of engagement that could breathe fresh life into the game.

In reaction to the announcement, one supporter expressed, “That would be awesome for the December DLC as a fitting farewell to GTA Online.” Another fan agreed, “It’s logical to include it before the end of support. User-generated content has consistently kept the community thriving.”

If GTA 6 introduces a new version of GTA Online, there may be a few more updates for the current version before it is phased out. This comes with both advantages and disadvantages – while we’re excited about potential features like a public Mission Creator, it could also indicate Rockstar starting to focus less on GTA Online development.

Most people accept that GTA 6 will bring a completely new version of GTA Online, much like how Warzone gave way to Warzone 2.0 in anticipation of the old system’s inability to support the next-generation game.
