New ‘Mummy’ Movie Announced from ‘Evil Dead Rise’ Director

As a movie connoisseur who has been around the block a few times, I can’t help but get excited about this latest announcement from Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. The prospect of Lee Cronin’s take on The Mummy is nothing short of exhilarating. This man has proven time and again that he knows how to deliver chills and thrills in spades, from his critically acclaimed indie, The Hole in the Ground, to his box-office smash hit, Evil Dead Rise.

It appears that Blumhouse Productions, known for their exceptional work, are determined to preserve and expand upon Universal’s classic Monsters legacy. Their critically acclaimed adaptation of “The Invisible Man” was widely recognized as one of the top horror films of the past ten years, while their upcoming “Wolf Man” has generated a lot of buzz. Now, Blumhouse and Atomic Monster are delving into “The Mummy”. Officially titled “Lee Cronin’s The Mummy“, this film is set to release on April 17, 2026. Lee Cronin will be penning and directing the movie, with production by Atomic Monster, Blumhouse, and Doppelgängers, under New Line. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Cronin expressed his excitement about the project.

As a devoted admirer, let me tell you, this experience will surpass any Mummy-themed spectacle you’ve previously encountered. I’m venturing into the depths of antiquity to awaken something incredibly old and genuinely terrifying.

Since the success of his indie horror film, The Hole in the Ground, which was widely praised by critics, Lee Cronin has continued to captivate audiences with his latest project, 2023’s Evil Dead Rise, produced by New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures. This movie garnered impressive reviews and earnings of approximately $150 million worldwide. Check out Cronin’s announcement about this on his Instagram below.

Previously mentioned, Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are jointly funding the production of this upcoming film. James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville serve as the film’s producers, while Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Macdara Kelleher take on executive producer roles. Alayna Glasthal oversees the project for Atomic Monster.

This is a developing story and will be updated shortly.
