New Star Wars Tactical RPG Will Let You Relive The Clone Wars

A fresh Star Wars strategy role-playing game called Zero Company is set for release, created jointly by Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games. The initial glimpses of this game will be unveiled at the impending Star Wars Celebration Japan gathering.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the unique take on tactical role-playing games that Bit Reactor and Respawn will offer in their version of Zero Company, as this franchise has not previously featured such a gameplay style.

Star Wars Zero Company

According to a brief announcement posted on Star Wars’ official site, the forthcoming Star Wars Celebration event is set to unveil the long-awaited Star Wars Zero Company for the very first time.

Back in 2022, I first heard about this exciting development. More recently, it was officially confirmed that this game would grace us at Star Wars Celebration. Though details remain scant, at least we’ve got some key art and a rough timeline for when the game might take place.

This game is set amidst the Clone Wars, as depicted on its cover, showcasing various characters typical in the Star Wars universe – ranging from clone soldiers to Mandalorians, and even Jedi Knights. Take a look!

As a space-faring gamer, I’d put it like this: “Gather an unusual squad of operatives and embark on interstellar assignments that break the norms of the galaxy – Star Wars Zero Company has me hooked!

Keep in mind that the team you’ll lead is just a ‘handful of top-tier operatives’, so expect an assortment of unusual personalities to join the ranks. Among the expected warrior figures such as clones and bounty hunters, the series might also introduce beloved characters from the Jedi Order, such as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. If playing against the Separatists is an option, you may encounter playable characters like Grievous or Darth Maul.

How about some love for Clone Wars villains like Asajj Ventress or Cad Bane?

Previous Tactical Games

It seems quite some time has passed since a major Star Wars strategy game hit the shelves. The last one that truly delivered on this scale was Empire at War, and that was released in the 2000s. Since then, we’ve had turn-based games for mobile, but Zero Company appears to be aiming for an AAA quality gaming experience, especially given that some developers from XCOM are part of the team behind it.

Indeed, a strategy role-playing game with such quality has not been present in the Star Wars universe before, which makes Zero Company an innovative take on the franchise that might reignite enthusiasm following less successful titles like Star Wars Outlaws.

Until they reveal more this weekend, all fans can really do is just wait and see.

Up until now, fans have just been given a teaser picture, however, further details are anticipated to be unveiled during the celebration in Japan, particularly on April 19 at 4:30 p.m. (Japan Standard Time).
